Help! whats wrong with my plant?

Hey whats up..

I'm new to the whole green thumb routine, so i was hoping maybe somebody could shed some light on this problem I am having. I just went away for a few weeks and had my girlfriend take care of my plant. This plant has been growing strong for the last month and a half until now. well, its still getting new shoots but it just doesn't seem to be as healthy as it was. Here is what she said she experienced while i was away that may lead to solving this mystery:

1.) one day the plant had bugs on it.. little beetle looking bugs. I've tried having her google bugs to try and show me what they were but she can't find them exactly, or isn't sure.

2.) the plant was in a freak rain storm, and the bucket filled with water over night. she simply dumped it out (along with some nutrients I would venture to say).

3.) now the plant looks sick. and it feels dry to the touch.. i wouldnt say brittle, but feels like it could be soon.

Some other things I am noticing is that the soil the plant is in seems a little hardened. I used a miracle grow potting soil that had more nitrogen then phosphate and potassium. I can stick my finger in about 3 inches to test for dampness and it feels damp.. but its hard as hell to get my finger in there. i know its getting plenty of water, but its almsot as if heat or the plant is sucking the life out of the soil.

I am putting a couple pics in this message to show you whats going on.

I really appreciate your time and effort. thanks

Color looks good so nutrients are fine. Looks like you had some fungus (septoria). Take the bad leaves off and reduce humidity. Your girlfriend probably saw some flea beetles (you can confirm this if you have small holes in the leaves)--annoying but harmless in small amounts. If the soil is caking you should repot with a better, more friable mixture. Good luck.
