Gnats and sand.

Whats that sand called you put on top of your plants soil to kill the gnats as they try to burrow/ emerge? Also can I find it at any hardware store?

any sand will work, it's used to dry out top layer of soil. might want to get fly strips and dont keep top soil so damp
