pH confused??

So this is not my first time growing in soil, just my first time with a pH meter. I had grown for several years with just an RO machine before i switched to hydro and bought meters, and have been successful at both. However, I recently decided to switch back to organic. My RO water comes out around 5.5 and stabilizes to around 6.0 after a day or so. I figured pH my water to around 6.5 although I had never had to before using fox farm's ocean forest. But now both veg and flowering plants are doing bad, even though I switched back to plain RO water. I bought a soil pH meter (realizing water pH and soil pH are obviously different) and the water goes in at 6.0, and after a few minutes the soil meter reads about 7.0 and then climbs alittle, even though run-off is closer to what it went in at. Is this norm? Could this be my water supply or something I'm probably doing wrong? WTF?

Make sure there is nothing else in your soil, PH test the water you use to water the plants with. If all seems normal, try flushing with distilled water with a LITTLE bit of PH down. All should return to normal.
