Miracle Grow was a mistake.

So i used organic miracle grow. Big mistake. It dried up and compacted and now its hard as a rock (not really but its really solid) and stunted my plants growth.

My solution was this.

I cut out the plants from paper cups, kept the compacted dirt, and i buried the bottom half into proper organic compost heap in a 3/4 of a milk carton. Very loose and very high in nutrients. Then i added about 40 small/medium earth worms on top. Will that be enough to loosen the soil? Will this solve my problem?

Re: Miracle Grow was a mistake.

Hard to know, if the soil is old or was exposed to a lot of moisture then dry ups, it could be shot. See what happens.

Re: Miracle Grow was a mistake.

Actually its working great. Growth is happening again.

I wonder if 24/0 will kill the worms. Does anyone know if i should constantly add worms?

Re: Miracle Grow was a mistake.

for future reference its perfectly ok to gently dip the roots into a container of room temp. water and try to massage the dirt off the roots before you repot the plant...

Re: Miracle Grow was a mistake.

We use Miracle grow soil with no problems....check our thread....it sounds liek you were not giving them enough tlc dude....the soil acting that way is from not being hydrated regularly or as needed.
