Exclamation Nute burn or lack of nutes?? PICS!

-Hydroponics NFT 20 litre tank
-Indoors
-1 300w blue cfl 1 300w red cfl

Almost 3 weeks flowering. Since I changed from vegging nutes to flowering nutes I upped the amount and i think it has lead to some nute burn. I didn't exceed the specified amount though so i'm not sure.

All the tips on my plants turned yellowish and then a "burnt brown" over a period of a couple of weeks.

I gave them only water (ph 5.9) for 4 days and have just drained the tank and put in fresh water with a low amount of nutrients:

Canna aqua flores A - 20ml in 20litres
Canna aqua flores B - 20ml in 20litres
Hammerhead PK - 5ml in 20litres

I know it is normal for a few leaves to fall off underneath the canopy but I am getting quite a few drop off and i'm slightly worried! The top looks nice and healthy though apart from the yellow burnt tips! Some of the leaves down below look a little worse though... There's a pic of my worst one that i found today..

Hopefully the pictures make the problem clear, if i can explain anything else let me know.

Thanks everyone,

pure haze

i think you are being a little to worried about your plants dude, if you ask me i had a somthing similar i flushed my plants and fed them nothing for over a week and they bounced back for the yellowing tips dont worry bout it, if this is your first grow it aint gonna be perfect, remember the rule best to underfeed than overfeed what strenght are you using your nutes, how close are your lights? temps/humidity hit me back and let me know

Re: Nute burn or lack of nutes?? PICS!

last weeks their nutes were:

3ml/litre canna aqua flores A
3ml/litre canna aqua flores B
1ml/litre Hammerhead PK

My lights are about 3 inches from top canopy, but run really cool so are not an issue. There is a fan moving air, and temps are very mild. Definately not hot or humid. The cupboard they are in is pretty big so one side is open to fresh air.
After the 4 day water flush they are now on:

1ml/litre canna aqua flores A
1ml/litre canna aqua flores B
0.25ml/litre Hammerhead PK

Any ideas?

Thanks,

pure haze

Re: Nute burn or lack of nutes?? PICS!

hmm do you have any pics of the whole plant and pot size important, i noticed you have been giving it water the last 4 days thats no good if it is nute lockout the reason being is that when the nutes build up it attaches itself to the roots straving the plant hence the name. post me a pic of the whole plant and pot size have you checked is the plant is root bound?

It is a sign of over fert but it's ok as long as it goes no futher. She is telling u she has all it can take, back off just a tad on nute's. Being hydro u can adjust to plant needs quicker.

i thought nute lockout was caused by ph issues? i ph every day and keep it around 6.0

no plant pots, 1 20litre water resevoir with the plants in a tray ontop. Roots are EVERYWHERE (even in the resevoir now). The tray looks like a dried pot noodle. But they look very white and healthy. How do i check for rootbound?

edit: Just read up on rootbound, which i think only applies to soil grows?

well you dont need too worry bout root bound its hydro as long a you flush and feed the only water for the next it will be fine im a soil grower bad assumption sorry, well if ur hyrdo just adjust the ph and keep a eye on it they will come back dont worry. and your wondering why the leaves are falling off well its cfl its doesnt reach as far down the canopy as HPS and so forth but you should have enuf light either way i have a similar setup with cfls one 125w 27k and a 300w 64k alls good though i loose a few leaves to but nuta worry bout it just stay without nutes for the next week

Re: Nute burn or lack of nutes?? PICS!

they have had no nutes for 4 days now, i thought now was a good time to put them back on a low dose.

surely a 13 day flush as you are suggesting is a bit extreme?

thanks for all the help katana,

pure haze

Re: Nute burn or lack of nutes?? PICS!

not really think of the amount of time its gonna take, i would just leave them to they start looking better better safe than sorry you dont wanna end up making it worse, they are flowering you dont wanna ruin the final result?

Re: Nute burn or lack of nutes?? PICS!

I just can't imagine that there is serious enough nute burn to warrant no nutes for 2 weeks, I think that it could be counter productive. (Sorry if i sound like a know-it-all newbie, let me know if i do)

As I said in a previous post, they are now on 1/3 strength nutrients.

I'll monitor them carefully over the next couple days and if they get at all worse i'll take your advice.

Thanks,

pure haze

Re: Nute burn or lack of nutes?? PICS!

imo, the plant doesnt look that bad. the last pic, of the dead leaf, looks like it could be a phosphorus deficiency. Since youre feeding, and adding a PK booster, its probably not lack of P that is the problem...

could be a pH issue. Youre adding 5.9 ph water...what is the pH of the tank solution?
it really looks like some sort of a mild lockout. Youll need to find out if its pH, salt concentration, etc before the problem will be a non-issue

Re: Nute burn or lack of nutes?? PICS!

well leave its alone for a week to get some new growth back, then go back on the nutes

I always keep the ph about 5.9. The water + ph down was the only thing in the resevoir.

Is it possible this is from not leaving water to sit overnight? I haven't done that every time.

Re: Nute burn or lack of nutes?? PICS!

That is mild over fert....2 weeks starvation is to much...a simple flush and a slight reduction in the schedule should be fine. The symptoms are likely to leave permanent marks....Temps might be a bit high, but if it isnt above 90, its probably just too much fert
