When posting your sick plants questions

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We need all the info on your grow including:

What type of medium; soil or hydro?
What brand and type of soil?
Indoors or outdoors?
What strain?
How old are the plants?
What type of lights and how many watts?
How far from the lights?
What, how much and when was it fed? NPK?
What is the medium/runoff pH?
What are the temps and humidity in the room?
What size pots?
Any bugs? Look real close.
Any other pertinent info?

If any of these questions have already been answered please disregard as I cut and paste this for everyone.

But it looks more like slight over fert.

Re: Magnesium Deficiency?

id say just water with balanced water for a couple of waterings and see if it improves if not then move onto ruling in deficiencies and such.

Re: Magnesium Deficiency?

For the past couple of waterings I've used straight tap water. The newer leaves seem to be green and healthy, so maybe the problem is already gone.

What I am wondering is if this could be caused by the chlorine in my tap water. I found a water analysis for my local water and it reads 3 ppm chloramine, which is like chlorine but more stable.

What amounts of chlorine/chloramine does it take to start locking out nutrients?

Re: Magnesium Deficiency?

I didn't noticed what or if you are feeding your plants, but when plants start yellowing on the bottom from the leaf margins in, it can indicate a need for nutrition. When lacking nutrition, the plant will look to itself for nutes, and you will begin to see yellowing. If you are now feeding, and the new growth is green and healthy, you're on the right track.

I doubt chlorine would do that. I am not sure of the amount of chlorine that would lock out nutes or even if it can lock out nutes. However there is a quick and easy fix to solving chlorine in the water; let the water stand 24 hours before giving it to the plants. By that time all chlorine has evaporated out.

Thats why I wanted to know if chloramine can have any effects because it will not evaporate out in less than a few weeks.

I did feed them a few times before I transplanted them into the 5 gal buckets, but they still had the lower leaves dying and falling off problem.

Now, I have them transplanted into roughly 3.5 gals of fresh soil, so I am assuming I shouldn't have to add more nutrients. Is that the right assumption?

If its regular not nuted soil, no organic nutes either, you have a week maybe two before they need nutes again.
