First timer having a rough start...please help!
I'm in a desolate area, so supplies are limited! Hydro or soil? In haste and excitement upon receiving my Carmelicious seeds, I germinated four seeds in a paper towel, then put them directly into a mixture of the only stuff I could get my hands on: A "soiless" seedling starting medium, which looks to me like it's got a lot of coconut coir, and some light colored, rocky material, maybe even some finely shaved wood or bark-like stuff. No nutrient info is given. I mixed this with an organic plant food that says it's earthworm castings. The mix ratio was about 2:1 soil-like stuff to organic plant food. Type of light 2 60W CFL's Daylight (6400k), 2-3 inches distance, on 24/7 "Atmosphere" Conditions constant 84-86 day, 76-78 night, awaiting hygrometer shipment, small fan directed nearly at plants. It's a good sized closet with the door open and the room is air conditioned. Unknown humidity, but it's probably around 60-ish due to tropical climate, even though I have a heavyduty de-humidifier in the room. Waterings I've been using water straight out of my dehumidfier. Planted seeds in well-saturated soil and didn't water for the first time until the 5th day. Frequency now is about every 3rd to 4th day. Container is about 1.5-2 gallons and last two waterings took a half-gallon. PH Range Initial checking of soil with a cheapo soil test kit indicated 7.0. I have since acquired quality digital PH and TDS meters. The water I used from the dehumidifier reads 6.8 PH, 014 PPM at 25 degrees C. The runoff today was 7.2 with TDS of 2450 PPM at 28 degrees C. Nutrients/Supplements none so far (day 16) other than whatever might be in that organic food besides the Earthworm castings.
The discoloration/curling up has been present since the plants were only a few days old.
I can't decide whether this is a deficiency due to too high of a soil PH, or nute burn...or something else. Sure would appreciate some educated diagnostic help.
I realize out of haste and failure to read up enough beforehand, I made a few big errors. The biggest being adding the organic food to the medium and germinating the seeds directly in that stuff.
Putting all four seeds in the same container is another problem I am unsure of how I will fix. I'm hesitant to dig in there and dig around in the roots to transplant into individual containers. Any suggestions on this would also be appreciated.
I have a 250W HPS with a MH conversion bulb and a hygrometer on it's way to me...could be a couple of weeks until it's in place.
Grow area is 2' x 2' and total lumens right now is about 10,500.
Thanks in advance for any help!
