Hot shot

I Got spider mite issues to the max. i bought those hot shot strips. my clones have stopped growing and exibit the same shittyness on the leaves.

When I got the hot shot stuff I popped it out of the bag and just threw it in the area. I noticed a plastic peice fell out of the bag. Is there some kind of pin i have to pull to activate the strip or are they just good to go out of the bag?

Another question. Assuming that the stuff works. Will my clones regain strenth and start growing.

Re: Hot shot

Bro - I'll be surprised if those hot shot strips actually kill them all. I've heard of people fogging but never trying to use a pest strip on existing infestation.

I'd be curious to hear if it works.... the alternative, pesticides, is always a nasty mess.

Re: Hot shot

I really like the effectiveness of hot shots. I had a spider mite problem wipe out an entire crop recently and since then I started using hot shots and they work really well. I have an area 7x7x7 and I use two, the plastic piece that fell out goes on the top, it's the handle. For them to be effective you must place them as far away from your out-take as possible. Along with the hot shots I foliar spray with Einstein Oil, Neen oil works ok too. You can find Einstein Oil and Neem Oil at your local growing store. Safer Soap can be used but I would not recommend it for your clones. I think your clones may be ok as long as you can get rid of the spider mites soon. Keep in mind that they lay eggs and you will need to spray repeatedly to remove the problem. Keep using the Hot Shots, if used properly you will soon be seeing their effectiveness. Good luck...

Re: Hot shot

I'm sure you have Wal-Mart in Canada, go there and look with insect killers. I find them in the states at my local grocery store. Hope you find them...

Re: Hot shot

The hot shots have kept my flower room infestation free for 9 mos now. I still spray my girls with Einstein oil while in veg in a different room a couple of times a week. This is preventative maintenance, and the foliar application provides beneficial micro nutrients.

I have found that diligence is the best way to keep mites away. With the neem products used during vegetation, and the NO PEST STRIPS used during flower, I have remained mite free since last June.

Re: Hot shot

This is good info. I've been fighting sprider mites for months now. Neem oil helps to keep them in check but doesn't fully remove them. I've also tried a mixture of Dawn and water. DO NOT spray on flowers, it will brown them! I've got some nasty insecticide for sprider mites but saving that for a last effort.
