Disease spreading on Hashplant... Need help before its too late.

Ok, this little hashplant used to only have a few brown spots on the first leaf set, but now the spots are getting larger and there is some brown growth on the leaves. I dont know what possibly could be the problem, they are getting fed properly, nutes, light, etc.

It seems to be on one leaf only.

Setup: 150 w HPs with 1 27w CFL and 2 34w flourescent as supplemental light.
Soil: Chia herb soil with 50 peat moss, 25 pearlite, 25 vermilculite.
Nutes: Plant is only 3 weeks old, have fertilized twice so far with diluted solution. Used Pirahna (advanced nutrients)

Couple of questions

Do you have good drainage ?
What size pot is your plant in ?
What do you feed it ?
And, How often ?
What water are you using ?
Have you tested the Ph balance?

Its got pretty good drainage, the pot is fairly small, but so is the plant. I ferted it twice, one time was yesterday, when I normally water it I water with distilled water. I water it whenever the soil is dry about an inch deep, which is like every other day. I have tested the PH and it was 7.0.

You should transplant that plant soon, mine were a bit smaller than that in the same size cup and they were already starting to get root bound.

So, ▓ Dude above has a great point. Your plant may be small, but the roots are huge. If your roots no longer can grow, your plants cant either. A flush, then transplant, to at least a 5-8 gallon medium.

After the transplant, give water only, 1 week after, to ensure you washed away, any leftover Toxic Effects.

Then, week 2, start feed again slow, 1/10th of what your bottle suggests. After that period has expired, resume to 2/3rds, of the recommended bottle feed, and keep it so. You don't need full strength as your in soil, and the directions are tested, and aimed at Pure Hydroponic Systems.

Any more questions ?

No, and cutting will not stop the spread. What I suggested, will stop the spread. How do you want it ?

Thanks but the pot size needs to be small for me... I only have a 150 watt HPS and its trying to cover 4 plants... As you can imagine changing pot size would not give enough room for all of them... Any ideas?

OK, other than let it die, do to lack of space, I can't give any further advice. You stated your Ph was @ 7, ( 6.5 is correct ) so you have tested your balance. Have you checked the runoff balance, That is where you will find a much higher/lower level, if its there, however, the solution now, is really only one. You can't expect a miracle dose of " fix me now ", to solve this problem.

If you cant put it in a bigger pot then double stack em, just remove the bottom of the pot and place it into another. Makes em taller but not wider.

You must repot it somehow.

Re: Disease spreading on Hashplant... Need help before its too late.

Thanks for the help. I replanted all of them into much larger pots. I just hope the transplant isn't a shock for them.

I can only fit 3 under the light now, so there are 3 smaller plants that are going to have to sit it out. Veg is the only problem for me, once flowering comes I can switch the plants every 12 so they all get enough light.

But any suggestions for the 3 plants sitting out? I was thinking of just throwing them outside so they get SOME light... Or maybe I should just throw all the flourescent lights i have on them?

Good 4 U Dude. Sure, take the remaining 3, and do what you can only do, Rotate them, One in, every 24 hours, One out every 24 hours, But still, try to find a bit more space, to get them all in there.

Cheers

Re: Disease spreading on Hashplant... Need help before its too late.

The disease seems to be spreading more now, its on the other fan leaf that didn't have it.

I'm not sure what it is, but maybe it will go away with time? Im starting to think transplanting wasn't the solution.

It won't go away over night. Upwards of 1 -2 weeks, before you see a complete recovery. Its just pushing the rest of the Salt Buildup, out. You did give a good flush ?

A good flush consists of " flushing with water only " the same amount of water 3 times, your medium. So if your medium is 2 gallons, 2*3 = 6 gallons to to correct. Same with say, 5 gallons of soil, 5*3 = 15, gallons per plant. OK ?
