First time grow with some problems.

hi, new to the community. im not sure if this is where it supposed to be posted but what the hell, maybe ill get lucky and someone will help me ;p

im using a soiless mix that was recommended for my closet grow from a gardener friend of mine. its an indoor grow in my closet. started with 3 plants but only one female. ;(
growing white demon herb. the plant is about a month and a half veg stage. about 3-6 inches away from 42watt fluorescent bulbs. i have 3 of the lights. feeding nutrient mix 12-4-8 once a week, very low dose. ph is a bit high at 7. temp is slightly above room temp. pot size is medium, about 7 inches diameter and 10 inches deep. no bugs other then the occational fruit fly that gets trapped in my closet.

the problem im having is that the plant has some red stripes going up and down the main stem. the big fan leaves are deep purple/red stemmed. the tips of all the leaves (except new growth) has burned tips, brown and curled down. leaves are sagging a bit. and twisting slightly, but that may just be because of the lights placement, i rotate a quarter turn every day. and the lights are on 23 on 1 off. just an overall unhealthy looking plant. i water about 2-4 cups every now and then when soiless mix is dry. drainage is real good.

any help?

I would guess that ph of 7+ is your issue.

yeah ph could def be the problem that and the npk values seem a bit high on the Nitrogen. One last question for ya. What water are you using tap? do you have a water softener (BAD NEWS) try flushing them and using r/o water or distilled

Ya, Have you noticed the " tips " are burnt?, Curling down. Have you noticed the lights, are " Right In There Face".
Heat dude. To young for Salt build-Up. Try moving the lights back, say twice the distance the are now.
PS: It will be critical, for you to, double the pot size, as well. If your roots are, " root Bound ", they can't continue to grow. So, If your roots can't grow, Your plant will not grow any longer as well.

Regards

Re: First time grow with some problems.

Ok im just going to say what I THINK are the problems, do you have a fan blowing and circulating air around the lights/plants? if you don't, I'd suggest you get one that will help your heat a lot because I have a 250w mh and those are supposed to produce more heat than cfls, but I have one in a closet with lots of ventilation and I can literally have the plant touch the light with no probs. Another problem I THINK I see is a magnesium deficiency, i'm not sure about this but the coloring looks a little like it. As for the burnt tips, did that start from the bottom of the plant or the top? If it was from the bottom then it may be over nuting, if its from the top then definitely heat burn. I hope this helps.

I'm still, sticking with what I said,

Re: First time grow with some problems.

hey gusy sorry about not getting back to you, my pc was stolen and to be honest i forgot completely about this thread. to answer questions:

I have been using distilled water until recently, now i am using tap that has been sitting out for over 24hours.

I have a fan blowing in the room keeping the temperature down.

I have already flushed and no nuts are being added for a while.

The plant has since been transplanted to a bigger container.

I also have 5 lights total now, i found that proximity to lights is necessary since they are so weak.

I have also added a CO2 pit, containing 2 packets yeast, 4 cups water, 1 tbsp baking soda and 4 cups sugar.

I will also post the most recent picks i have, i have been flowering for about 40 days.

what do you think?
