Unhappy HELP : leaves curling under with NO burning... what is it???

So this morning i fixed my cabinet lighting. Formerly i just had led lights on the plants and they were not happy. So, per advice... now i have the led panel above the plants and two large cfl's on the sides, plus i staked them and bumped up the 'wind' on them. I also put them on an 18/6 timer. They seem happier already!

Now for my question... i havent used any fertilizers, I make my own completely organic compost soil so its pretty steady on its own. i am a 100% organic gardener. However, a few of the leaves on the plants are curling under. there are no burn marks of any kind on the leaves or ANY other issues. Ive read up on the sticky's about issues and pests... but the only thing i could come up with is this :
Leaf Curling Down
- When the leaves curl under and burn at the tips and margins it’s usually a sign that the nutrient level is too high.

Solution - Check and adjust the pH level as necessary. Flush and decrease the nutrient level.

How would i decrease the nutrient level if i dont add anything? i'll get a ph tester next time i go into the nearest town, but in the meantime... will bone meal or sea kelp help in the soil?? Ive attached a photo... you can see mid plant where they are curling.
Any help is much appreciated. this is my first grow and i want my ladies to turn out happy!

Re: HELP : leaves curling under with NO burning... what is it???

Is that fresh growth blowing through a cloned bud? It looks like some young tender shoots that have taken off from a cloned bud to me. I would give it a few days to see if she starts putting on normal leaf sets before I tried to adjust anything.

I have a similar thing going right now, but in hydro, and the new growth is shooting out normally. The first few sets came out a bit disfigured, curled and only 1 and 3 leafs.

If it were my plant, with no burn showing, I would just watch and be patient.

Re: HELP : leaves curling under with NO burning... what is it???

thats kind my thought too. its not a clone...i lost power for 5 days in an ice storm and they went from having 24/7 LED light to having maybe 4 hrs of partial dispersed natural light. so it kinda made them a little cracked out! haha. its the leaves that were newest at the power outage time that are curling, all the new growth since then seems fine...
ive heard that bone meal can help with ph issues and i have some at home (along with dried sea kelp)... wasnt sure if it would help ...???

Do not add anything until you have an accurate way to test your runoff ph. When you determine whether you need to go up or down on your ph, there are organic amendments that can raise or lower ph. Adding bone meal and kelp will also feed, and can cause a possible nutrient burn. Ideal ph in soil should be in 6.2-7.0 range.

How old are your plants?
What did you use in your soil?
What's your water ph?
Is this your first grow?

Before adding anything, make sure you aren't over "attending" to them. They are resilient, and it's hard to resist being a "doting" father to your girls.

I suspect that your problem with your lighting schedule threw their cycle off, and they're in a recovery stage. They might be shocked from lower heat if your place got cold. To be honest, they really look like a cloned bud...lol.

Keep reading this forum and learn all you can, these folks here are great and will show you the way......Good Luck

Re: HELP : leaves curling under with NO burning... what is it???

Thank you! i'll sit tight until i get a ph tester.
they are an indetermined age... i grew a bunch of seedlings and put the males under the lights cuz i was wrong in sex judging, i keptthe females in a windowsil thinking they were males and just growing them for seeds! i know stupid mistake! haha. but they are growing now so...
my soil is an organic compost that i make and use for my own gardening. its a big mix, but pretty well rounded... no meat or dairy.
water ph... not sure. we live in the woods and have a natural spring on our property that is tapped, so again... i assume its pretty near perfect!
yes. its my first grow, after smoking for nearly 20 years. the economy finaly struck me and i thought why not grow my own supply! ive been a florist and a landscaper so i didnt think id have such a hard time.
i'll keep up on my reading. thanks again!

p.s im a mom not a dad!

leaves curling down-too much of something, in your case, maybe water?
leaves curling up-looking for something.

Re: HELP : leaves curling under with NO burning... what is it???

Don't forget...organic soil COULD be too "hot" for them...

I also agree with chunkdaddyo...and anberlinaddict. Go easy on them...watch the water.

Do you let the pots dry out enough?

Ther all wrong. 1.. either your plant went itno bloom and is now trying to revert back into vegg. or 2. your plant is a genetic mutant, ive have had a couple myself back in the day. Look up mutant and you'll see the simularities. I think its reveging tho. give your plant a couple weeks with 24 hours of light and it will come back fine.
