I came back from winter vacation and I checked on my one plant (bagseed) and it was lying in the pot not standing up and it only had the cotyledon and its abt 7 inches tall the first set of leaves are JUST coming in. I tied it to a twig loosely and put a CFL on it 24/0 to make up for lost time. will this fix it?

Alright I have a fan on it and the stem looks like a whitish barely green with little hairs is tht normal?

Fan blowing on it may be too strong... a REALLY slight breeze across the top is more like it. Too much wind will suck that thing dry and kill it. How close is your light now? Needs to be within a few inches to stop more stretching from happening.

I disagree that a fan directly on your seedling will "suck that thing dry and kill it." Fans totally rock for ickle plants. It'll strengthen the stem and roots and keep bugs and later, rot off your plants whilst keeping the air circulating. You'd be surprised what a teeny plant can take in terms of a wind. As long as it's not so strong that it snaps the stem, then you're just subjecting it to what nature does anyway. It's moisture is absorbed through it's roots.

Once your plant has strengthened up a bit, re plant it with soil further up the stem toward the cotyledons.

Ok the first set of leaves came in and they r still small its a healthy med to dark green growing weel. thx for the help

how far is the light from the plant(s)?Was reading summit some where recently if your using the fluorescent tubes you want them about 3 inches from plant. i use a 600watt poot light and keep it about 1/1.5 feet away. If its far away this might be your problem or just poor genetics. Just give balanced water for time being if i were you
