Persistant chlorisis problem

All of the classic signs are there; older fan leaves yellowing and curling at the tip, going crispy, finally. I have and use a ph meter, correcting the water into the soil to 6.5 to 6.8 ph every time I water. It happens to my clones and my flowering plants alike, if I nute or not.

The problem is simple: try as I might, I am missing something. Any thoughts?

What is the run-off water pH? What when and how much do you feed it?

Re: Persistant chlorisis problem

Runoff water seems to be about 6.5 too. I have been using Fox Farm nutes, but cautiously, with the TDS never reading over 450. I had none of this through the first run, but now, I can’t seem to stop it from continuing. One set of leaves emerges, the oldest set turns yellow and crispy. I know it is a simple problem, but somehow, I am missing it.

Thanks for your advice!

Re: Persistant chlorisis problem

I will snap a couple and send.

Thanks!

PS: I did not buy the buffer to calibrate my ph meter when I got it. And I wonder if perhaps it is giving me false readings (uncalibrated). The symptoms are just too obviously related to ph and are consistent in the nursery and the grow room. So it has to be ph. Could the lack of calibtation be the culprit? I wonder...

Then you really have no idea what pH you're looking at.

Calibrate!

when did you purchase the meter? Have you kept the probe moist at all times? If its fairly new, it shouldn't need calibrating but you should have some 4.01 and 7.01 just to have something to check it with.

Re: Persistant chlorisis problem

Its funny that you would mention this as I was experiencing the same problem using the same fert. So I stopped and switched to a totally organic fertilizer with a good bio catylast and some humic acid and they appear to be returning to a darker color. I did a npk test on my soil and though my ph levels were good the soil was not it was to high in p and high in k. Fox Farms Blows the fertilizer kills your soil, they are not who they claim to be, there just another company guessing there way into riches any idiot can mix mineral salts together. dynosow-er

Re: Persistant chlorisis problem

Well, my hunch was right: the meter was away off. Meters are a new experience to me and I thought that the buffer wasn’t really necessary. It is. I was more than a point off on my meter. Now, I will triple check everything and all is well again.

I went through one grow before moving (currently) and used Fox Farms nutes- Grow Big and Tiger Bloom. I have no complaints there at all, but may try an even more organic nute program next time, just to learn. The soil building discussions appeal to me.

Thanks!
