SpaceQueen is sick :(

Here is my 3 week old Space Queen x AK47, heres the typical stuff you need to know.

What type of medium; soil or hydro? Soil
What brand and type of soil? Fox Farm Ocean Forest
Indoors or outdoors? Indoors
What strain?Space Queen x Ak47
How old are the plants? 3 weeks
What type of lights and how many watts? 150watt HPS
How far from the lights? 4 inches
What, how much and when was it fed? NPK? Never have been fed
What is the medium/runoff pH? 6.5
What are the temps and humidity in the room? 77 F and 33%H
What size pots?1.5g
Any bugs? Look real close. No
Any other pertinent info?
This yellowing started happening slightly after the transplant into the 1.5 gallon bag from a small cup. Before and after this plant was put in FFOF. When this plant was transplanted it was moved from CFL to the HPS. The yellowing started on the very bottom leaves and is continuing up, it also drys out the leaves.. Even the leaves veins are yellowing. I was thinking that this was Nitrogen deffiancy but it very easy to mistake problems. I was also afraid to feed these plants as a couple other in the group have a slight burn from the soil. I have included pictures of this. Sorry for the quality I am working with a cell phone, but I think you will get the idea. Please help this is one of my favorites of the group, and has been doing this for a few days now while I lost the internet. Thanks in advance for any input you have.

Question Is this nute burn?

What type of medium; soil or hydro? Soil

What brand and type of soil? FFOF

Indoors or outdoors? Indoor

What strain? Bag seed / unknown

How old are the plants? 2-3weeks (hard to say, see below, in veg on 18/6)

What type of lights and how many watts? 400w MH + 1-pair T5 32w each, 6500k

How far from the lights? 1 foot from MH

What, how much and when was it fed? NPK? 2 days ago - reg watering - 1/2 tsp FF Grow Big per gal - first ever ferts was 5 days ago, 1/2 tsp Grow Big per gal

What is the medium/runoff pH? soil pH 6.8 - 7.2

What are the temps and humidity in the room? 82-degrees / 34%

What size pots? 3-gal pots

Any bugs? Look real close. Yes, fungus gnats, only since yesterday

Any other pertinent info? Yes, last night, 2 hours before lights out, I sprayed with a dishwashing/oil/water solution to combat gnats. Did not spray again with clean water.

Three of my five babies have developed some drying out and discoloring of lowest fan leaves. Top growth is fresh green and overall growth is excellent. I'm using a chemical pH kit to check levels, mixing soil, water and a small amount of chem powder and checking color of the solution. pH reports are approximate, as best I can judge.

Hard to say the biological age of these plants, but they were transplanted into good soil 15 days ago, all pretty small sprouts at the time.

Pic 1 is plant (3) - soil pH ~7.0

Pis 2 is plant (2) - soil pH ~7.2

Pic 3 is plant (1) - soil pH ~ 6.8

Pic 4 is all the plants

Thanks a bunch for any feedback, opinions!!!

I don't want to flush the plants unless I really have to. The other 2 plants have no trouble leaves.

Re: Is this nute burn?

Kind of looks like nute burn. I personally wouldn't feed 2-3 week old plants for they're way too young. FFOF already has plenty of ferts to get the babies going, and sometimes even that may prove too much. I'd say it's the combination of FFOF and Grow Big that's creating those legions. Back off the feeding and see if it helps any. The most I would use at their age is Cal Mag and perhaps a micronutrient. I would give them 50% strength Cal Mag and 25% micros, and if that does well up the dosages on the micros. If that didn't help I would have another look at my pH. Soil pH really needs to be below 7 because nute lockout begins at a pH of 7 or better. Your babies could be exhibiting signs of deficiencies because of lockout, but it's hard to tell. I'd say they're getting burned just because of their age and your confirmed usage of Grow Big and FFOF. Fox Farm is powerfull stuff!

Re: Is this nute burn?

Thanks for the input LW2G! I've read that about FFOF and seedlings, but they've been it for 15 days, so I was figuring they were doing fine. And I don't know how long it takes for an over-nute situation to develop. None of it looks too bad, so can I get away with not flushing?

Thanks also for the tips on other nutes. I'll do some research to check em out!

Re: Is this nute burn?

No prob.

See, growing is like anything else. If they were doing fine then you shouldn't have fed them, but it's a small mistake that can easily be fixed. Remember this, however. If it isn't broke then don't fix it. If the plants are doing good then let them continue to do good. When they need something they'll show you a sign, but until they do they're perfectly content. I wouldn't say you need to flush unless you see it get worse. Cut the nutes for now and use plain pH-ed water with something like FloraBlend Vegan Tea. FloraBlend has an NPK ratio of 0.5-1-1 so it's perfect for young plants. If after that they get any worse than what they are then I'd say flush, definitely, and work on lowering your pH.

Hehe... that makes total sense, and it's what I've been doing for water, letting the soil dry out and letting em be. But I was wanting to get some BIG growth going, which is why I started them on nutes. And the oldest (1) is physically 6 weeks old, which you would never guess by its size.

Thanks for the reassuring words... very important for us over-nervous first time growers!

Re: SpaceQueen is sick :(

I merged your two threads because they are both similar and both most likely have slight fert burn. No biggie because your pic from above shows a plant that is generally in good condition i.e green.

I think yours is a case of one of the following...nitrogen burn, over watering, not enough soil aeration, or damaged roots. Did you mix any perlite with you FFOF? Could be not enough aeration, but you said this happened slightly after transplanting so I'm thinking it could be damaged roots. Did you handle with care when you transplanted?

Re: SpaceQueen is sick :(

no damage done during the transplant and the aeriation is fine. My water drains threw my soil quite nicely, I never had a problem with that on previous grows with ffof
