Re: What??!?!

Could be any number of things, honestly. For a proper diagnosis, however, supply us with a little bit more information. Here's a couple of questions for you so that we can better learn of your situation...

1. What's your soil pH and the pH you use to water your plants?
2. What nutes, if any, are you feeding you plant and at what strength?

Re: What??!?!

did a simple soil test a couple hours ago, the ones with the colored pills in the tubes and it came out to a high alkaline ph in the 8 region so i realize that needs adjusting, the plant looked great a week ago but it had purple stems. now its getting worse every day i fertilized twice in the two months its been alive using a 16-3-6. it looked somewhat scorched so i flushed it with water out of the hose. its in organic miracle grow soil( i know its crap ) could the imbalanced ph be a cause for this?

Re: What??!?!

now i'm no expert, but i'd say if anything it is underfed. that high pH can't be good either. make sure you are watering with 6.5 for soil.

Re: What??!?!

my opinion it's a combination of your soil and PH levels, yes get the ph to 6.5 this is not only the water but also the soil. you can buy soil ph test kits at nursery's and also the two correcting powders up and down.
The miracle grow soil is a across the board soil used for most plants. The soil usually has slow release fertilisers in them which is probably effecting the PH of your soil and causing the problems, as the slow release nutrients and you feeding the plant is causing over-fertilisation...
My personal opinion is to go and get some good soil, check that it's specific for organic herb gardens. Repot your plants with this soil, you are able to remove about 2/3 of the soil around the roots then give it a drink of 6.5 Ph clean water with no nutes. you may also want to help the plant's drainage with a small bag of perlite and a bag of blood and bone mix. follow the directions on the packets for quantities.
let me know how u go or if your not clear on any of that.

Re: What??!?!

Just so you know this type of post should go in the Sick Plants section.

It sounds like the MG soil is nute burning your plants, and your ph is way off. Pretty much like everyone else has said, transplant it to a good soil without nutes, alot of people use foxfarm I use Black Gold. Don't use nutes for a few days after the transplant, give it some time to recover, then start your feeding schedule.

good call. the plants already like 2.5 ft tall so its a little late for a transplant but its probably worth it. im gunna adjust soil ph with additives, water it with molasses the next time i water, then fertilize soon after. and then see if it still needs help and then move on to this i think..

Re: What??!?!

i have no ph meter. so i had no way of ACCURATELY measuring ph. cheap testers are a bitch. i added 1 tbsp of molasses to a gallon of sitting tap water and flushed. within a day or 2 it came back looking nicely should have pics soon
