Bent seedling

I just started my first grow about a week ago, and I've got my first two actual leaves started, the plant is about 1-2" right now. Last night while watering one of my lamps swung down and bent the plant at about a 90 degree angle. I left it for a moment and it started to pick up and grow towards the nearest light to where it was bent. After a few hours I decided to use a twist tie to force back into a straight up grow which seemed to work. I took the twist off and it looks like its doing okay today. There is a little visible damage where it was bent but I don't think it's going to die. Was the twist tie a good idea, and is there anything I should do to strengthen this stem up or just leave it alone and it will fix itself? Thanks

Re: Bent seedling

Keep an eye on it, might stunt growth a little. As long as it's growing, take good care

Re: Bent seedling

oxygen will strengthen your stem up quite well.
use fans and good ventilation to keep oxygen flowing in your grow room

Re: Bent seedling

It might actually strengthen the stem later on. A fan is very important for when the air moves small seedling it stresses the main stem about the equivelent of lifting weights and tearing muscle fiber so your muscles regrow new cells and become stronger and add size, the same happens to plants cells in stems.

Re: Bent seedling

sounds like your light is too far away, and the plant is stretching. if it's injured/creased, you don't want high winds blowing on it. i think people sometimes confuse fresh air exchange, with fans blowing high winds on your plants. all they need is a gentle breeze blowing on them, not a fricking hurricane. i'd poke a toothpick or something similar into the medium next to it and prop it up. it should recover easily.
