BUGS, help me! hurry!

ok, i know it's a worthless pic, but i've found bugs. so i took a pic of it and some of the "damage" i think it's causing. near the edges/tips of the leaves i can see a lot of patchy/veiny light green. i noticed two of the bugs on the leaves today just sitting there motionless. i thought the were just bits of dirt at first, but they're small, brown, have wings. i'd say they're about half the size of a grain of rice. will neem oil work and will home depot have it? how do i administer it?

Re: BUGS, help me! hurry!

sounds like a thrip...but hard to see the leaf to check dmg. Im not sure that neem oil will completly wipe them out, have heard saying that need doesnt seem to kill them all off...but if you can find a product called Monterey Garden Insect Spray or something that contains "Spinosad", they wont live thru a couple of sprays. Look up Spinosad on wiki and it tells you what its from and details.

Re: BUGS, help me! hurry!

it doesn't poison them, it disrupts their life cycle(they stop eating, reproducing etc.) and the oil residue stays on the plant for quite a while so it would harm the plant if i were to keep applying more instead of helping it

Re: BUGS, help me! hurry!

well read the instructions...Pretty sure it says to apply multi times, but hey they are your plants. One dose will not kill all the different stages, it only kills the adult mites...they you have 2 more stages of bug egg/preadult...u spray once, great you kill the adults that are already present, they the stage before adult grows to adults lays more eggs...then guess what your right back at the start. Do some reading on neem oil here.

EDIT:I just grabbed my bottle of NEEM and says to apply every 7-14days depending on amount of bugs infesting plant. I have used this product like many and it has no ill affect on plants, You can use up to day of harvest if you choose...but I would suggest not to use that late.

Re: BUGS, help me! hurry!

If you have a bug problem, you should try a Hotshot No Pest Strip from Lowes or Home Depot. They are about $6.00 and will effectively kill most pests in your grow space. I started using them in June, and have not had a spider mite problem since. It is a cheap and effective defense line against insects. I believe it will also kill thrips, if that is what you have. Read the label to get one or two depending on the cubic feet of your grow space. I hope this info helps, it sure helped me.

The neem oil works mix 1-3 tbs tablespoons per galln of water and yes apply it every 7-10 days for a few weeks. Dont spray the lights and don't put back in under the "sun" right after spraying; that can burn the leaves. Other than that its great.

Re: BUGS, help me! hurry!

i applied it, and i'm gonna do it again sometime next week. and _Numb_ , i did do reading on neem. probably more than you cause my plants are at stake. Neem oil affects the eggs and larvae as well starting on the first application, and the instructions on the bottle weren't written specifically for weed and different types of plants react differently. hence why i'm trying to get advice from experienced growers. not noobs like you. shoo.
