This is not my first grow, but it is my first indoor, and I decided to use biospunges from this company instead of just germinating naturally:

It seemed like a great idea at the time, so I germinated 6 Skunk, 6 Northern Light, and 6 Cali Orange in it.
But after months under a 600w MH/HPS under almost PERFECT conditions, this is what these pathetic things look like:

You can see almost NO root development, and we're talking 3+ months here. And if you look close you can see one of the other week ass plants in the background. I have fertilized properly with FF Grow Big, EJ Microblast, and some epson salt, yet they have been slow and feeble in all stages of development!
I'm thinking it might be that the roots were never able to escape these "biosponges", thus were never able to develop properly. Before I try again, can someone EXPREIENCED please tell me which approach they would recommend for ideal germination and growth?
