possible ph lockout, help please(pics)

soil is mg potting mix with perlite
4 24w cfl's around 6400 lumens
small space, 1.5'x2'x2'

my water's ph has been around 7.2. the last soil i had balanced this out and brought the ph down around 6.5. but i'm thinking i need to lower the ph of my water a little, i just need some confirmation from some people who'd know for sure what this is.

if it's a ph lockout, would it be smart to go ahead and adjust the ph of the water and water? i don't need to water until tomorrow it looks like, but if watering now with a better ph will help get this baby some food i'd like to go ahead and do it.

i have 3 other seedlings, two are showing slight signs of this but not nearly this much. it started with the leaves turning very pale green, then yellowing on the embryotic(if that's the right term) leaves, and finally leaf burn.

It looks to me like the soil might be a little hot. I would flush w/ water PH balanced water and give them a few days to see what happens. If it is root lock, you should see a differenc ein a few days, if the soil is hot, it will clear it out and I would wait until the plants show a definate sign of nute def.

What size pots are those, from your pics they look a little big for seedlings. I never start in anything bigger than a 4-6 inch pot b/c I have seen similar symptoms from using large pots. I hate to transplant myself, but trust me you will see a definate difference using smaller pots then transplanting to bigger. I only transplant once, I wait until my plants are almost completely root bound before transplanting to the pots I plan to finish in.

ok, it is hard to tell from the pics. Just ghive them a good flush, about 1.5 gallons per pot should do, then watch them closely for a few days, they should green up and begin to show vigor in a few days if that is the problem.

Yeah way too hot the soil that is. Check the run-off pH from the water at the bottom after watering it. That's the best.

just to let you guys know, i uprooted the plants and put them in a better soil. went from mg to earth's finest professional mix. new growth seems to be much better, much darker green, and the burning has drastically slowed. hopefully this persists.

oh! i didn't even think to post pics cause i have already in the journal. it's hard to see the new green in pics, but i guess that's just life. here's a link to the grow, not much in the way of progress so far but the leaf burn has slowed dramatically and i've ordered a ph meter for further use.

yah your PH level was way high I hope you didnt shock em too much with the transplant into new soil when you buy soil you should look for 1 organic and 2 ready to use PH balanced soil I geuss 3 no nutes ie: (feeds plants for 3 months) I usally test new soil just to be sure anyway...

I'm probably preachin' to the choir..

good luck

yeah, i definitely hope they haven't had too much to take, i don't want a bunch of hermie's. they seem to have taken well to the transplant. and from now on i think i'll stick with this new soil i got. 100% organic, ideal for container plants, ready to use, optimum horticulture formula so says the bag. i'll test my runoff to make sure the ph is where it needs to be when i get my meter.

and i don't think you can get too much good advice. it's like 7 times you hear something before you get it down, right?...i must not have heard the saying enough.
