Is This 2 Big 2 Fast??

My plant got so big it fell over today. Its only 28 days old. But the fan leaves are huge, the steam is brownish on the bottom as you can see. This is my first grow, its hydroponic. Can you give me some advice.

Re: Is This 2 Big 2 Fast??

You have stem rot, looks like. Way too wet for that stem there.

Personally I wash all the peat off of the seedling and prop it up with the hydroton you have there but it's a little late for that.

Peat tends to hold too much moisture. If it continues to rot you'll lose the plant.

Try watering so the peat doesn't get wet anymore and try to cover it with more hydroton.

If the rot isn't tooooo bad the plant should recover fine once the stem dries out.

Best of luck!

Re: Is This 2 Big 2 Fast??

i had a propagation set that came with super plugs, i germinated the seeds put them in the super plugs and once they sprouted and the root showed through the super plugs i just transfered it to the emilys garden set, but the emilys garden came with rock wool, not those peat super plugs that you see in the picture, i guess they are no good for a hydroponic system??????? i just put some hydrotonts over the peat, what else should i do??? i have another one that i am lsting with the same brown stem symptoms but since its laying down, not sure what to do, dont want to lose the plants, should i start cloning right now. thaanks

Re: Is This 2 Big 2 Fast??

Definitely try jamming some foam down alongside the netpots so they sit up higher and still block the light.

That will raise the superplug out of the water so it's not getting wet directly while still leaving roots touching the surface of the reservoir.

Once that superplug dries out in a day or so it will stop rotting and your plants will take off.

They look super healthy by the way... Good job!

You have a much nicer setup there than my current grow for sure. ROTFLMAO!

If my baby (singular *sigh*) goes to term without issues I'll fall over in surprise!

Keep up the good work and try not to stress so much.

Re: Is This 2 Big 2 Fast??

plain and simple you did not plant deep enough....dump some of the grow rock's out and burry it deep'r and steak it up for support till it can stand on it's own again

you plant under grow rock's....not on top of them

you ask'd me to look now back to HGS i go

Re: Is This 2 Big 2 Fast??

charliechill, what changes did you make to your setup and how is everything going for you? I ask because we have a very similar setup and the same results.

TIA!

Re: Is This 2 Big 2 Fast??

LSTing wont help in this case...I have the Emily's garden, it's got a lot of problems. There is a grow journal done by ReferMadness or Mad4Reef or something (Search Emily's Garden) I followed his guide and saved my harvest...but I will not use Emily's garden again. It leaves the roots in the water, causing root rot. You need to get the roots out of the water by proping it up (I used CD jewel cases as he did), probably add another pump and stake up the plants.
