Sickly plants--Hydoponic Grow

I could use some advice on my hydro grow. My plants, six of them had a magnesium lockout i believe (according to what i could see on various posting and photos etc) and i have since used some Epsom salts 1/2 teaspoon per gallon of water to correct the situation. The plants looked fine for the last three days since i used the epsom salts and then this morning two of them looked really really droopy. My PH was running at 5.8 or so, but then this morning i checked it and it was 7.O; so i drained and refilled the reservoir with fresh distilled water that has a PH Of 5.7. I am using GH Grow nutrients, but did not add any this morning just gave them the water. The veins on the plant leaves are purple looking as well. The other four look fine.

When should i add more nutrients and any thought as to what is going on. I'm experience as a soil guy, but this is my first hydo grow.

much appreciate any advice.
peace,

shannonball

That ph is a little low for hydro.. at 5.7 you are dangerously close to locking out the Mg and soon others nutes as well. Raise it to 6.0 and do your best to keep it there. Warm res temps will increase ph on a daily basis.

Re: Sickly plants--Hydoponic Grow

thanks, i added 1/2 tbs of GH Grow saturday and the two droopy plants seem to be coming back pretty well. The ph is running about 6.1 now. Will continue to monitor it closely. thx,

pH of 5.7 is spot on for hydro. The correct range is between 5.3-5.8 for most strains. All you should do is leave that clean distilled water in there for a few days and see if your plants perk up. If they do SLOWLY introduce nutrients over the next week.

Also make sure you have enough oxygen in the water, that can sometimes create problems.

If you're using GH 3-part you'll want to check out the Lucas Formula.

Don't know if you've heard of it but it makes Hydro simple so you can focus on other stuff. Like learning the ins and outs of marijuana and how it grows.

Here's the LINK

The link in my sig goes to the main index for that site as well.
