Why are my seedlings stretching?

Hi,

I just showed a photo of my newborn seedlings to a friend and he said that it looked like they were 'stretching'.

That may be true as they are only a few days old and are already 3 inches high.

I have them growing next to a darkly tinted window and they get maybe 2-3 hours of filtered sunlight per day.

Is the stretching due to lack of light? Should I go straight to long hours of fluroescent lights?

Tressie.

Hi Rabiez,

Okay, its under the lights they go! There goes the power bill. Oh, well. I'm sure it will be worth it.

Regards,
Tressie.

Never forget- seedlings can take adult levels of light but you must keep the heat off them. I would invest in a decent flourescent, just remember your spectrum and what part of it your seedling needs.
