**Emergency 911! What is burning these plants?! **

Well I've been using a 600watt MH setup, and my babies are about 1 month old and have been doing great so far. The other day I decided to feed them (1/4 teaspoon/gallon) of Fox Farm's Grow Big, while also lowering the light to only about 12-18" above the plants at the same time. When I returned my once beautiful babies looked severly dried up, and now i don't know whether its overfertilizing, overlighting, overheating or a combination of all 3?

Here is what they look like:

Since noticing the problem I have:
- installed AC unit to cool temperatures from around 95F to around 75F.
- raised light to 3-4 feet above the plants
- watered again to try to flush out any excess nutrients

Can some experts out there please tell me if i'm on the right track? Quick before its too late!

Looks like Heat stress. Does the room get a constand supply of fresh air? Try moving the lights up a bit, refresh them with some water and keep the room cool.

Re: **Emergency 911! What is burning these plants?! **

the thing is it the plants have been in optimal conditions for almost a week now and it looks like almost no progress has been made. before all this bullshit happened i was SO happy with the results, every time I went back there obvious progress had been made. Since this bullshit its like everything is moving in slow motion now, so can some experts please tell me my options?

- wait for ever for these things to grow now?
- take clones??
- cut my loss and throw these pathetic plants away and start fresh??

someone please help b/c i'm like 1 1/2 months in and it fuckin sucks to think that all that hard work was for nothing.....

heat stress or nute lock out. Whats your PH at? for dirt it should be at 6.8

lift your light up and only feed them water for a week or so. youll be fine.

Rinse out t he dirt and get rid of your nutes to see if thats what did it .

trim off your dead / 90%+ dead leafs.

Are those the pots that you will flower those plants in? or are you sizing up?

Re: **Emergency 911! What is burning these plants?! **

Ok, good idea about trimming the dead, b/c I left the leaves on hoping they would maybe come back to life, but now it's pretty obvious that they're just diverting precious energy from the parts of the plant that need it more.

You probably can't tell from the pics, but I cut the pots in half and duct-taped them back together, so when it comes time to transplant all I have to do is cut the tape and the pots will fall apart, leaving a healthy and undisturbed root system.

But yea it's almost been a week now of keeping them totally perfect:
-Temp: 70-80 degrees usually around 75 tho.
-Light: 600w MH located about 3-4 ft above foliage
-Humidity: Around 30%
-PH: Close to 7, I used Ocean Forest soil (supposedly PH balanced)
-Fertilizer: Only once around week 4 (1/4 teaspoon per gallon) and I used 2 gallons, since then i've only been watering to prevent further stress

So should I expect these to come out of shock anytime soon, and will the plant ever be able to recover to 100% or are they gonna be growing in slow-motion from here on out?

humidity could be raised to 40, get the ph down with some peat moss on top of your soil or a few drops of lemon juice in distilled water. and try some LST to boost growrate but be SUPER careful since your already almost 2 months in.

Re: **Emergency 911! What is burning these plants?! **

man it's funny that you mention that....

i lost power for about 2 days, and once the issue was resolved i moved the light even closer to the plants, almost as if to make up for lost time.

in hindsight it's obvious that it was a mistake, but i guess some things can only be learned through experience.

the good news is they seem to be doing better, hope to have some pics soon

Re: **Emergency 911! What is burning these plants?! **

12 - 18" with a 600w MH!?

baaaaaack that light the fuck off - that's classic case of heat stress and bleaching right there

have you stuck your hand under the light at 12"'s and left it there and felt how hot it is - i'd check that out fella

*edit - didnt see MJB's post

Re: **Emergency 911! What is burning these plants?! **

Yea I know, it was hot as fuck, plus there was no AC unit at the time either... I dunno wtf I was thinking.

Right now it's around 3ft. away w/ temps at 75 deg should this be OK?
I've stuck my hand where the plants are and it seems fine, plus the sensor for my thermometer is located at the tops of the plants, and its only reading like 76 or 77.

The tops look promising, it just sucks cause I lost about 50% of lower growth in the process. Hopefully they'll prevail and in a couple months i'll be looking at sticky colas instead ;-)

Re: **Emergency 911! What is burning these plants?! **

Lol - I did the same thing with my first grow - put a 600w HPS 12"'s away from my newly popped seedlings - they lasted about an hour - poor things - RIP

75/76 is perfect and as MJ is hardy as fuck they'll recover nicely
