Spider mites?

My plant has speckles all over the leaves. At first I thought it was the little white flies eating away but I have not seen a fly in a couple days.

While inspecting today looking for bugs I fould a web-like substance on one of the branches. I went to the computer and searched a bit and found this here.

Solution - Early detection of spider mites, before damage is noticed, is VERY important. The tiny spider mites can be detected only by a full and thorough leaf inspection (on both sides of the leaf). If you find Spider Mites you must act fast and hit them hard with either a bleach solution (1 tablespoon of bleach to 1 gallon of 95°F, pH balanced, water in a spray bottle.)

My question is should I try this? I cannot see the actual spider mites on the plant but on the bottom side of the leaves there are little black dots. I cannot tell if they are moving or not.

HALP!!

Re: Spider mites?

I wouldn't try bleach. The best spray I've found is th Canadian Xpress Spray Safe, in our shop we always say do not spray if you are heavy into flower because you risk rot and moulds but other than that deal with them quickly.

If you are in flower and there are specialist shops near you, check to see if they order natural predators.

Re: Spider mites?

I tried to determine the active ingredients of that Xpress safe spray without any luck. Spider mites are tough to get rid of because they reproduce so quickly...also because the li'l bastards hide so well. If you're a month or more from harvest I'd suggest pyrethrum spray every 4-5 days. If you're close to harvest I'd probably avoid insecticides and stick with safer soap or neem oil. It will work but it's a lot less effective (IMO)

Re: Spider mites?

Actually I am putting back in to veg growth. I sexed them and only came up with one female so I decided to put her back.

I took some clones that I am hoping dont have any bugs. Maybe I will just cut the mother plant down and clean the room.
