Possible problems?

I just recently germinated and and then planted 10 seeds (Barney's Sweet Tooth from the Dr). They have been in the soil for about 6 days now.

1 of them shriveled up and died. Another one sprouted to about .5", and though it is alive, it appears to have stopped growing. Another one came up with sort of a deformed leaf (one of the initial serrated leaves is half missing). The rest of them appear to be doing just fine.

I have them in an organic mix, in 5-6" pots. They are under 6- 40w flourescent tubes (for now... they will soon be moved under a metal halide for vegging when it gets here). Temperature is around 75-80.

Any thought as to what went wrong so I can prevent any future problems with the healthy ones, or is it just bad luck for those particular plants?

Do you make sure the soil gets nice and dry before watering again? Maybe some more info on the soil (brand n such) may help. And you're not feeding them anything, right?

For soil, we're using a mix of 25% perlite, 25% vermiculite, and 50% Miracle Grow "Organic Choice". Other then what is in the soil, we are not giving them any other nutrients.

In time since I have posted this, we have one other plant that has developed a couple of small, brown spots on the leaves. The others are still doing fine.

Possibly too much nutrients from the soil or a pH issue?
