Please help! first hydroponic plant

first off, i put the seed in the grow block and put it in the grow rocks in my baskets. Then i put it right into the hydroponic system, without letting the roots go through the grow block. It almost killed the plant at first, but now it is growing fine, with some discoloration on the lower leaves. There are healthy green looking new leaves growing out of the top.

secondly, last night the grow basket fell through the top and the plant was submerged under water for a pretty good period of time. we took out and re-secured the basket on the top

i was wondering if the plant will die because it was under water for so long. i know it is possible to drown plants, but the air pump was still going so it still technically had oxygen.

right now i am just letting it dry out a little bit by only letting the very bottom of the basket to touch the water.

do you think the plant will survive?
