you are starting to get pythium root rot. It is the absolute worst thing you can get in a DWC.

Where is your reservoir located? Hot hot does the res. get?

Your best chance of saving them is planting them in soil, or grodan.

If you don't wanna do that, you can dump your res. & clean it thoroughly with some Hydrogen Peroxide. You gotta clean it hard core with hot water & scrub it.

Then when you re-fill it, add some hydrogen peroxide to the res. water with the nutes. Use the 35% hydrogen peroxide & use it accordingly to the label.

Then get a spray bottle & fill it with a weak solution of water & hydrogen peroxide. Remove any slimy brown roots, & spray the the roots & net pots every 2 hours for a few days.

Even all this won't guarantee that they will be saved. The plants themselves still do look healthy, so you have a good chance of saving them. You gotta be diligent though, & spray the pots every 2 hours.

You can also not let your res. get above 72 degrees.

Thanks for the tips bro, im new to this dwc thing..... Ok so its been a few days and I cut the problem roots off my plant, I got her in a seprate 5gal pail, the water temp is 74F, room temperature is 68 to 70, and 52% hum. It seems to be doing ok, its sprouted nice new white roots that havent turned brown yet. My question is, do I still have to worry about this plant? Or do I have a good chance that this plant will be fine and I wont have this problem again. Any ideas anyone?

Another noob question

Just wanted to know also, how fast can root rot spread to other plants? I had 3 in the same rubbermaid tub, but then put them each into there own 5gal pail when I noticed the roots browning. Any tips? Thanks guys im noob to this.

i wouldnt necessarily say it is root rot...ive done dwc a couple times and have noticed that the roots turn slightly brownish due to the nutes "dying" them with color. ive had the same looking stuff and pulled great plants. just make sure you have airstones and keep it clean. good luck
