Im using 26w CFLs and yes two of my plants edges have burnt without any contact whatsoever. These are babies though, only a week old. One says that lpants can be kept within an inch with cfls which is ok im sure but maybe its just these two plants which are a bit more sensitive to light which are the ones who get burnt. YA MEAN?! Im sticking with CFls though, they consume less energy and put out more lumens than fluoros. Theyre also versatile when it comes down to placing your lights in places that fluoros cant reach. |

im not sure how it could be nute burn when i started it with fish emulsion then went to worm castings and they were both in small enough doses. I think some people do have problems with cfls while the majority dont, but do you think its just a sensitive plant? It is just bag seed.... |

I've done the CFL thing several times. The only time a CFL should EVER burn your plant in a place with good air circulation is if it touches the plant. It'll scorch the leaf where it touched but won't just wilt it. It'll be dry and crumbly. What you have isn't burn from the lights. In fact it almost looks like when you watered, you got water drops on the plant, and for whatever reason it turned it yellow as it evaporated. Even mild nutrients in your water can do this if it drops on the plant and just sits there until it evaporates.. it used to happen to me before I switched to foliar nutes
