little help with soil

Ok so the only soil i can get my hands on is Scotts or MG or earthgrow and a couple other brans i aint never heard of. But I dont have any garden centers around my spot of the city and Home depot is the only place i can buy my soil from or walmart or k-mart or lowes. so can someone give me some advice on how to get my hands on some good soil from those places? i use scotts premium soil but i guess its not working out to well. I need some decent soil thats gonna work and not burn my plants and kill but at the same time let them grow.. naw what i mean? any help is please!

You have to read the bag carefully. If it says "feeds for three months", or "with added fertilizer" or "with time release nutes", don't buy it. If the NPK is in the tenths such as .01-.05-.01 it will probably be ok for most strains but a make no guarantees on that. Get some perlite too because my experience with both those is that they don't drain well.

general rule of thumb is to try and stay away from MG and Scotts.. but i have heard it does work if u have nothing else.
