Where to transplant my pot

So i live up in Maine and I've decided to grow out in a marsh which i hear is a pretty prime place. The soil i transplanted my 1 1/2 week old plant into is really rooty tho, its got a lot of tiny roots and there doesnt appear to be a lot of thick, consistent soil. I poured some cow manure on top and kind of mixed them in, is this ideal? Will it work or since the soil is so rooty will it not be able to take? any info is appreciated.
