26 Days old w/ Gold Spots!? *pics*

Hello Everyone,

I have several plants in early veg and cannot figure out why with such healthy growth, the bottom set of leaves would be turning yellow with golden spots on the leaves (center). Several plants are showing this. It doesn't look like it's burnt so I don't understand. I am using 7 CFL's on 9 small plants in solo cups. I noticed this the past 4 days or so. Look at the pictures. I water every 2-3 days. I am not using nutes yet.

Thanks!

In my opinion your plant looks kinda small for 26 days, not a lot of growth, altough the uppermost growth looks very healthy. I think you need to start fertilizing your plant, the leaves are turning yellow because of deficiencies. Also, check pH runoff to be sure that's not the problem.

edit: this should have been my first question, what kind of soil are you using and what's the N-P-K?

I just read your grow thread and you should only be using about .5 ml of ST per 3.781 liters (1 gal). That's like 1/4 teaspoon.

I am using start soil that has sp. moss, compost bark, perlite, and added lime. I just got a pH meter from eBay that is reading my pH around ~7.7 or so. I am not sure how accurate this is because I know there is added lime in the soil. I am going to go up to my local hydro shop and buy their combo kit of pH UP, pH Down solution, and pH tester paper to verify.

So I should start using ferts? Is that why the leaves look the way they do? I have not used Super Thrive on the plants for several weeks now and just started small amounts yesterday. Should I begin to introduce 1/4 strength of 24-8-16?

Thanks for your help!!

pH is a bit high, and you should start with 1/8 strength for first watering and maybe second then 1/4 strength and up when you can see your plants can take it. let me know how this works out for you.

Like what?

pH 7.7, no nutes for several weeks, just added a bit of Super Thrive. I water every 2-3 days. 26 days old. Started in seed starter soil (listed contents above), 72-88 degrees F, ~40% humidity, 6 x 26W CFL's, 23/1 light cycle, fan blowing over leaves during all hours of light.

Thank you. I hope I can figure it out. Unless I hear otherwise, I am going to give 1/8 strength 24-8-16 nutes with 1/4 tsp per gallon Super Thrive tomorrow.

Thanks again!
