Sounds more like a hydro setup which should be 5.5 pH. Pics if you have them help too

| Most experienced hydro growers will tell you that 5.5-5.8 is optimal. 5.2 - 6.0 is tolerable for short periods of time. As far as pH fluctuation goes, if you've got your nutes dialed in right, your pH should be relatively stable. You don't need a "cushion" for pH movement. If your pH isn't stable, you're doing something wrong.
