My tap water's PPM is about 180ish. Keep in mind that I'm a n00b, but I use General Hydroponics 3 part nutrient series but use their Hard Water Micro instead of the regular kind. My plants seem to be kicking a lot of ass and taking names (see link in sig for pics). Just sayin'.

I have to reiterate that I'm a complete newbie to growing, so take everything I say with a grain of salt. However, I wanted to make sure that you didn't have one of the "killer" hydrohuts. Some of them were recalled because they were killing plants, etc. Search this site or google "killer hydrohuts".

| No offense, but that's not an accurate statement. The ONLY thing that you find in most tap water that will hurt a plant is chlorine. And if you let the water sit out for 24-48 hours, the chlorine will evaporate. In fact using tap water can actually be helpful for a hydro grow because it usually has magnesium and calcium in it - two of the most common nutrients that plants seem to get hungry for. Most hydro growers who use distilled/RO water end up having to buy a cal/mag supplement. Before deciding to use your tap water, check the TDS. If it comes in higher than 300ppm, don't use it, otherwise you're probably fine. To OP: You're running at 900ppm with young plants? If so, that's really too hot for them. I'd back that off to about 500ppm for another week or so, and then gradually move up to full strength when they get a bit bigger.
