| Want to make sure my girls are alright
Howdy. Plants are growing like crazy, but I just want to make sure they're alright. 4 plants in 5 gallon bubbleponics set up. 2 oldest are ICE, ages are about 7 weeks for one and about 6 weeks for the other. 2 youngest are Aurora B and about 4 weeks old I think. PH stays between 5.5 and 6. Water temp is usually about 75F now. Ambient temps around 80F. PPM about 600 or so using GH 3 part w/Hard Water Micro. Anyhow, my roots are huuuge but kind of tan, so I included some pics of 'em. 000_0133.jpg 000_0134.jpg 000_0135.jpg Also, I've noticed some light brown spots on some leaves, and a couple turning up. I have a scrog growing and it's quite possible some of these leaves aren't getting much light or touching other leaves, but I thought they'd just wilt normally if that was the case. Anyhow, here are some pics of the leaves in question: 000_0124.jpg 000_0128.jpg 000_0130.jpg 000_0131.jpg Any comments are appreciated.

Hey Darth, Your roots look nice and healthy. Looks like whatever was gunking up your reservoir got taken care of. Your leaves look like you've got a touch of phosphorus deficiency, though. Since you've got hard water, I'm wondering if your nute concentration isn't a bit low. Maybe raise it up by about 100-150ppm and see if that helps. Also, if you can somehow get that reservoir down to 70F, that might help things out too. Otherwise, things look great.

Thanks a lot, Help Needed. I'm switching to flowering tonight, and I think I'm going to follow the General Hydroponics Keep it Simple recirculating program at about half strength. I'm using their Hard Water Micro, regular Gro, and regular Bloom and I think I'm going to get some liquid KoolBloom and some Hygrozyme (sp?) to throw in there as well. Hopefully the nutes will get sorted during the switch... For the res temp, I'm going to keep doing the frozen water bottle thing, and I'm putting another small fan in there to continuously blow directly on the res during the light cycle (putting it on a timer to come on and go off with the light). Since the light is the main source of heat in there, I'm hoping my temps come down with the fan and the switch to 12/12. Glad to know the roots look alright. With that orangeish color I wasn't sure what to make of them. Peace.

I think I've already suggested this, but if you're using GH nutes think about using the Lucas Formula with it. Under your T5, run the 0-5-10 ratio (yes, even in flowering). Make sure you wait at least 24 hours after you fill your reservoir before you try to adjust the pH, since the GH Hard Water Micro will *usually* buffer the pH for you, but it takes a while to do it. One other thing you can try for your res, that made a huge difference on one of my grows, is to pick up a $2 emergency blanket from Walmart. Cut holes/slits in it to fit your plants and cover your reservoir with it. It'll help keep some of the heat from your light out of the res.

I like the idea of cutting something to put on the top, but I think it's too late to do it on this grow. It would be hell trying. One cool thing is that my homebox came with an extra piece of tarp. I never could figure out what the hell it's for but I think it would be a great res cover. It's the same material as the regular tarp. I noticed something a bit strange. I'm not sure if anyone could see it in the first round of pics in this thread, but my oldest plant seems to be kicking out a couple purple roots. Quite frankly they look like veins and they make me want to chuck in a trashcan. Here's what I'm talking about: 100_4796.JPG Is that...normal?

I'm not much for bumping my own threads, but I'm hoping someone has seen or knows something about these purple roots I'm seeing... TIA.
