Lighting problem!! quick help!!

i planted 8 seeds yesterday morning and this morning 4 of them came out of the soil. i need to know really quick.... is it bad for the babies to put them under a 600w hps from the start. i dont have any other lights. has anyone put seedlings under this kind of lighting?

im not t that experincced in growing but i would try a smaller light till they sprout i think im not sure so dont qoute me on this but i think it does something to the flowering stage if theres too much light n shit from the start so if u were going to use that i wudnt do the light contiously like on 3 off 1 on 3 off 1 type thing since its so powerfull just to start but im not sure sorry i wasnt that good of a help // but goodluck wit ur plants Bro

yeh be cool mate if you put your light about 3-4 foot above seedlings & make up a screen with a white plastic bag to put above your seeds ,that'll diffuse the intesity of your hid until your seeds get there 1st/2nd true shoot,not including the cotlydone,then can take away the screen and start moving your light down gradually.

dont worry about the bag burning/melting as it'll be too far away from light. but if it does bother you then a white sheet is fine if not better?

how too make your screen is up to you bud.
your just covering the seedlings from the light until old enough to handle the light, also you should get a metal halide mate for veg stage then put your hps in when flickin switch to flower.

LOL, thats the only way I do it... and motorheed is dead on....

Here's what I do, plant in small peat pot then put that in a 16oz dixie cup with 1 inch of very moist soil in the bottom with no holes in cup. then i put saran wrap or glad wrap that is opaque white over it. Reason I do this is becuz it grows mucho faster this way.

All is cool, bud. Just account for heat and moisture loss.
