| rootbound hydro?
Hello all.I was having some problems, and I was wondering if plants being grown hydroponically can be affected by being rootbound. This is the first time I grew large plants, and after having trouble I looked and the roots are definitely packed in these small pots.I looked in the problems section and it talks about soil grown plants. Can this be a problem with hydro? grow room 10 x 12.
2 1000 watt hps air temp 92 humidity 65%
general hydroponics fertilizer
4 foot plants in 8 inch pots.
These pots sit in trays and are watered automatically several times a day through drip emitters. There is no recirculating system,I just water enough that the trays never stay dry for more than an hour or two a day.The plants have been in 12/12 for 45 days.1 week ago they started yellowing and dying. As the solution in these trays evaporated, the salts were left behind. This may have caused a lockup due to ph issues.I cleaned all trays and flushed all plants. They are in rockwool cubes covered with hydro stone. The section describing rootbound problems pretty well described my problem. However,I have some experience and to me it looks likes a potassium lockout. Also not every plant is bad.In fact, some of the biggest ones seem a little burned at the very tips, but thats it.I had started with a recirculating nft system, but had to try these trays because of the height of these plants-(they would have hit the lights)The buds look fine, but most sun leaves are yellow or dead. It's been about 4 days since I flushed the plants, and they still look pretty bad.Any suggestions would be appreciated.
