Sick Plant

My plant is droopy. Water is good, I'm not over watering. I'm not sure what a plant needs the most. The light or the heat of the light?

we'd need a little more information to help you, especially without any pictures. like age of plant, nutes you're using. type of light, distance from plant. type of grow medium etc. for us to have a chance to help

the heat itself from your light source, in itself isnt that important. its the light itself, more so the lumens of the light.

oh.

Soil: Sta-Green All purpose pottng mix
Light: 65 watt/120 v Plant Light (Thats what the box said)
Atmosphere: Temp. 78-82F, Fan is a Blizzard Jr. with High and Low speeds
Waterings: Water them 1 time a day and rotate them every day, Medium pot since plants are 3 weeks old and 2 weeks.

Still need to find out more on how/when to feed it nutrients. And yesterday I added a 24watt CFL to try and light up the plant that is not under the Plant Light when its not its turn.

Hope that made sense. O_o

if you need to water every day then you need bigger containers. you should have enough medium in your pots, so you don't need to water daily. if your medium is drying up on a daily basis, you don't have enough medium, unless you're trying to grow bonzai type plants. your fan should provide a gentle breeze blowing on your crop, not a freaking hurricane. in soil, feeding frequency is usually one time in a seven day period. hydro is every day, every feed/watering.

How?

How long can a plant stay in one container? Or does it go based on how fast/high its growing?

Based on size of container, how old/big it is. Obviously if you see roots coming out of the bottom, its time to transplant.

a general rule of thumb is about 1 gallon of pot size per month of growth. although a 5 gallon pot is rated 3-6 months

but yeah once a day is most likely way to much watering. you at least should be waiting till the top 1/2-1" of soil is dry

I don't understand this-my plants dry out very fast, to the point where if I don't water them daily the soil is bone dry. How would a bigger pot help this?

think of your medium (the dirt) as a sponge, and your plants as a predator, feeding from it. the larger the sponge, the longer the predator is able to feed. if you have a large medium, moisture holding area, a predator (your plant) can feed on it for a longer period of time.

Also, the surface of the soil is going to totally dry out probubly the same day you water. Stick your finger an inch or two down. if the tip of your finger feels moist soil, then dont water that day. Try this and you should see improvements.

Yeah I actually figured things out after I posted. That makes a lot of sense. Right now they are in the same styrofoam cups they've been in since Day 1. They're about 3 weeks along. I'm thinking they'll start looking better with bigger pots and an HPS light that should be here any day now.

So..

Whats with the yellow outlining of the leafs? Is it because of me over watering because as soon as I gave it less water and more light it got stiff. I figured the yellow markigs would have gone away witht he new growing leafs, but they still are there. If I continue to give it less water and more light like I have will it have a good chance of surviving? [sorry about the pics. I'm still working on that technical difficulty]
