Large brown spots, leaves curling up and down, some yellowing

Everything I do causes them to get worse. HELP!

Leaves are curling up, curling down, severe brown spots, a little yellowing(but not much), droopy, leaves are crumbly and ill.

I have read all I can and just cant seem to grip the problem.

I just flushed the system for the third time.

On the new growth the tips are curling down

The old leaves are bent up, down, and brown spots, slight yellowing.

System Specs:

The lights are HO T5 Fluorescents, 4 ft by 4 bulbs, 2 blue 6500k 5,000 lumen each and 2 red 3,000k, 5,000 lumen for a total of 20,000 lumen's.

18 hour on (6am - 12am), 6 hours off (12am - 6am).

There are a total of three marijuana plants all in VEGETATIVE STATE.

Plant Left is unknown approx 18.5 inches
Plant Middle is a Widow approx 21 inches
Plant Right is a widow approx 14.5 inches

All approx. two and a half months old. (they were all planted at the exact same time) and the growth on all three are so different.


The reservoir system is approx. 3 gallons of distilled water with an air stone.

Growing medium is hydrotron clay pellets in mesh pots.

The water cycle is:

12am - off LIGHTS ARE OFF FROM 12AM UNTIL 6AM
1 - off
2 - on for 30 minutes
3 - off
4 - off
5 - off
6 - On for 3 hrs LIGHTS ARE ON FROM 6AM UNTIL 12AM
7 - On
8 - On
9 - off
10 - off
11 - On for 30 minutes
12pm - off
1 - on 30 minutes
2 - off
3 - on for 30 min
4 - off
5 - on for 30 min
6 - off
7 - on for 30 min
8 - off
9 - on for 30 min
10 - off
11 on for an hour

The root system on all of them look white and fuzzy.

PPM is: 644
pH is: between 5.5 and 6.0
Air Temp: 23.3 C
Relative Humidity: 46%
Water Temp: 24 C

Nutes are FoxFarm Big Bloom Liquid(0.01-0.3-0.7) and Grow Big Hydro(3-2-6)

I have added 2 tbls of big bloom and 2 tsp of Grow Big.

Now the Questions:

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG???!!!!

1) I am thinking about changing them to all blue. Is this a good Idea?

2) Are the nutes good for growing widow? If not what is a good hydroponic nutrient system that will cause the least amount of problems?

3) What is the best nutes for hydroponic marijuana?

4) Where should the PPM be?

5) What should pH be?

6) What is a good watering (drip) cycle? And should it be the same when the lights are on and when the lights are off.

7) How often do I add nutes?

8) How long does it take to see improvements?

9) If there was things you would change what would it be?

It looks like your ph is off. your reading seems ok, stay as close to 5.8 as you can but the pics look like a ph problem or nute burn. 644 shouldn't be too high for for the size of your plants. Leaves curling down is also a sign of over fertilizing and over watering.

All of the signs point to nutes too strong.

your ph is good, change out your res and drop the PPMs to around 450, for a week or so till they recover from fert toxicity

This is only a guide line, every strain is different....white widow for example doesnt like nitrogen at all

SWITCH TO 12/12 LIGHTING AND BLOOM NUTES (this is just an example you don't have to switch to 12/12 now)

The new growth is starting to look better. But once the growth is about 2 sets under the very new growth, it starts to do this spiral curl. The older tips are curling under a lot also. They look like a "ram's horn". The leaves margins are semi-shriveled(cupping downwards) and very dark green. Is this a Nitrogen toxicity (thats what the symptoms were on one of the websites) or something else?

the leaf curling you describe is generaly ph related

what are you using to test your ph & do you have a backup way to test the ph

Dude are u serious ppm up to 1100? maybe this is for hydro?

the reason ur leaves r turnin that way is because of nute burn try usin less nutes

yeah noob @ ec x 500 I feed higher than that, between 1100 & 1400 IN SOIL, but I have experience

I already told him to drop his ppms, we know its nute burn already thanks for the echo
