There are a lot of decent brands of fertilizer out there. Your local grow store carries a number of them - Botanicare, Fox Farms, Advanced Nutrients, etc. What you're looking for is a relatively balanced ratio between N, P, and K, as well as various micronutrients. Avoid anything that seems badly out of balance, for example fish effluent, which, while fairly mild is mostly nitrogen and is lacking in P, K and micronutes.
If all else fails, head down to your local Walmart and pick up a bottle of Miracle Grow all purpose fertilizer. While it's not a premium fertilizer, it'll do the job. A number of growers have had success with it. Just be careful. It's very strong and can easily burn your plants.
