Nutrient Deficiency Chart

It takes more than one resource to properly diagnose the problems your plants have if you're not experienced enough to look at the plant and know what the problem is. If I'd gone with one resource (this forum and advice I got from some members), I would have flushed them all and watched them die. All it takes is a little research and it's easy to figure out why your plant is struggling. The chart is a good starting point. www.ganjaguerrilla.net is a good site to go to once you have an idea what's wrong, and these tools combined helped me accurately diagnose my plant's problem and nurse them back to health.

That said, I think that the chart is somewhat inaccurate and/or incomplete. For example he lists tip burning as either Nitrogen, Zinc or Boron deficiency, when in fact the most common cause of tip burn is excessive nutes. Or the way he notes that yellowing in older leaves can be either a nitrogen or potassium deficiency, but he doesn't know that the pattern of the yellowing will tell you which it is.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the first page of the plant abuse sticky in this forum, you'll find a link to a very good article with pictures detailing various plant problems. It's not as simple as this chart, but probably more accurate.

Another good source for pictures is www.ganjaguerrilla.net. He's got multiple pictures of various types of plant problems, which can be compared to your plant to help you identify what's wrong.

It was accurate enough to help save all of my plants (except for one clone that never rooted), even when everybody here swore that they were suffering from nute burn rather than a deficiency. That and ganjaguerrilla's website. First I looked at the chart to get an idea what the problem might be, then went to his site and looked at pictures to figure out if that was correct. It was.

Yes, nute burn can burn the tips. This isn't a general abuse chart. It's a deficiency chart. If you're sure your plants are burned (not you personally, but in general), look at the hundreds of posts about nute burn. I had trouble finding good info on deficiencies on this forum, so I thought I'd share the tools that helped me fix my problem.

Check my grow journal in a few days and I'll show before and after photos of the plants that were suffering the most.

Great find plugged and thanks for sharing. That kind of information is invaluable for a growroom. I tried to print it out (unsuccessfully) in color to hang on a wall in my grow closet. Just like the various problems guide sticky, this will help me be able to diagnose even more problems before having to ask for help.

In my opinion, this guide needs to be made into a sticky so it will be easy to find when needed. Not to replace what is there but to enhance it however many people never even look at the stickies before asking for a diagnosis. Personally I prefer to find a solution fast and charts like this and the problems guide enable me to do that.

Yes. The chart definitely makes a good starting point. I know from experience that when your plants are sick its often impossible to even guess where to begin looking for a solution. As long as new growers realize it's the first step in diagnosis, not the last.

And GG's website is amazing. It's saved many a grow - mine included.
