white powder in hydro set up
I currently have a hydro set up in a friends closet. It is a nice little set up but i do have two problems. The first problem i noticed was a gel like substance in the water that was getting caught by the filter, it seemed to clog the filter (and when i took out the filter and let the water in the filter sit the gel sank to the bottle and is split with the water) and also the tube for the underwater pump. sadly i dont have any pictures of this if u have any ideas but would like some i will take them. The second problem that i ran into is a white mildew that seems to collect on the plants leafs. i think it may be mineral deposits because i used tap water from my friends sink which seems to be a little hard. the plants started to rot on the leafs as you can see in the pictures. i plan to change out the water soon and use distilled or purified water. any comments on the plants or set up would be greatly appriciated any help would be much more greatful.

I believe the white powdery substance is salts & minerals which maybe causing the leaf burns, are the nutes spraying on the plants, or are you foliar feeding or spraying the plants? try washing the leaves of one plant to see if the powder dissolves and whether it returns
whats the PH of your tap water and the res PH your plants are also showing a couple defencies I believe maybe PH related if your res is coagulating...........thats not good......... change it out what nutes are you using, check to see if they contain micro nutes lower your lites the seedlings are streching to reach the lite

It could be mildew?
or salt build up. Flower Pharm w/pure cinnamon ....This was recomended by a member w/exp. I've not used. |

thanks guys after i changed out the water it did stop so it was a mineral thing they are doing a lot better now im hoping that this is the last of my problems and the gel thing i think was minerals mixing with something else thanks again guys
