Anything you can do with shit soil (hyponex)?

Hey all, just wondering if there's anything I can do with this shit soil I bought? If it were just small containers, I wouldn't worry, but I've got my girls in 9-gallon trash cans---thats alot of soil. So, I was hoping someone could tell me an additive (peat, coco, etc) that they've added to this shit mud called Hyponex, to make it better. Thanks!

Peat retains water. If mud is your problem, just add perlite. That will improve drainage. If you are taking the time to grow in 9 gallon containers, why not get some decent soil and make it all worthwhile? Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the response! I already added quite a bit of perlite (more than I normally would have) to this stuff to help with the drainage issue. I just was amazed when I saw how clumpy the Hyponex is. My main concern with this soil is adequate root-soil contact.
With the perlite already in it, should I look for another additive or just say fuck it and trasplant them all in better soil?

hyponex is crap dont use it. Its clumpy, full of bark, and you'll find shit like rope and bottle caps and pieces of glass in it. Not to mention the ferts. If your stuck with it, add the perlite because as you noticed it clumps easy. With that soil i'd do like a 50/50 of soil/perlite so you dont have drainage issues. I noticed that soil has a tendancy to clump and hold water which promotes infestation. Considering for like $20 you could get quality soil and some perlite i'd just transplant and hope for the best.

Also, there will almost always never be enough perlite in most soil you buy. Consider getting a bag of it. There for sure isn't enough in the hyponex crap.

Yeah eyecon, I added two bags of perlite when I realized how bad the soil was. I'll probably try to find some sort of replacement soil. I know FF Ocean Forest is really good stuff, but we're barely getting by on money, so I'll just have to see what else I can find. Being broke sucks ass. I'm trying to recover from a shattered knee right now, so I cant work--makes money a little tight to say the least. I'm just tryin to do the best I can with so little to work with, ya know?
Thanks for the help with the soil guys, I appreciate it!

Well, give the hyponex a try. You said you added two bags of perlite; hopefully it wont clump up. I've heard of people using it and seeing results, I just had a bad experiance with it and I find it poor quality.

Thank You GG. Don't know why I never considered sand, but it makes perfect sense!
