| Over-cautious about bugs?
Perhaps I am being over-cautious regarding my 3 girls who are all nearly 4 weeks into flowering and doing really well. Having bought a handheld microscope to check the trichs I was having a good look and suddenly saw a bug which looks like pictures of mites I have seen on the internet. Shitting myself, I pulled them all out the growroom to inspect them. I can see no webs, no yellow spots on fan leaves but on the underside of some leaves are a very small number of dark coloured bugs. They appear to the naked eye as just tiny black specks (smaller than a full-stop . ) that move if you look closely. Am I just being over protective of my girls in their last few weeks of flowering or should something be done now to prevent disaster? Are a few bugs nothing to worry about? Thanks in advance for any advice from the experts.... |

| Get down go killing......
With just 3 plants to care for I'd suggest you employ a close inspection hands on approach. Get down and go hunting. The enemy is on the undersides of the leaves, especially the larger lower leaves. If mites are eating a visible mark will show, maybe yellowish or silvery.Turn the leaf over and with gentle fingers, so as not to harm the leaf, ensure that the last thing to go through each and every mites mind is its' asshole. They are smaller than a full stop but they cluster and you'll spot 'em. Prevention being better than cure you might want to decrease the temperature as mite numbers go up with temperature. I have read that at 60 degrees, the female produces 20 hungry little mouths, at 70 the bitch can do 13,000, and at 80 there is the potential for 13,000,000, all within one month! Misting helps.

What i have found works best is the neem oil and then use one of them small hand held steamers, that you use to clean. I spray with neem and then intermittently sprray a few big blasts of steam is which raises the humidity and makes e'm pop. Anyone else tried watering with neem in their water, I tried it my last grow(for 6 weeks) but didn't end up finishing the plants, they seemed to like it. I just wondered if someone had done it through flowering. I did it to control fungus gnats and it seemed to be starting to work, as there numbers went right down and the majority of adults were deformed in some way. Also this was the only plant not to get spider mites. Before I used the steamer though i would have a sacrificial plant that i wouldn't spray that often or generally bother with, I found the mites seemed to lay off my other plants, I will see if i can find the photo of it at the end compared to the others, the whole cola was webbing and the leaves were all bronze and covered in web, it looked pretty cool. And best of all it still smoked fine . Cheers Mat |

DO NOT USE NEEM OIL IN FLOWERING. NEEM OIL IS MENT TO BE USED ALL THE WAY UP UNTIL FLOWERING AND NOT DURING. i do not get where people get their info from but wow u all must really want this guy to smoke buds full of neem oil. The thing is neem oil only breaks down on the plant and leaves itself. If u start spraying the buds the oil seeps into them and stays there without really breaking down. DEFINITLY NOT A GOOD IDEA TO USE DURING FLOWERING unless u dont care wat ur weed tastes like lol.

If you want a product to use during flowering i highly suggest finding a garden store that carries DOKTOR DOOM PRODUCTS. The one you want to buy is the DOKTOR DOOM BOTANIC'S spray. This product is verryyyyy effective and in my opinion is the best of the best. It can be used 3 days before harvest but i strongly recommend using it as little as possible when in flowering because really u dont want to be spraying anything on ur plant when in flowering.

| youve only posted your opinion just like others have posted thiers & its just "your opion" that the other is better, did ya make yourself feel good putting the post down when you apparently only read your products label & pal your just wrong see the link below correct me if Im wrong but isnt your products main ingrediant Pyrethrins..... if so, & I know it is Pyrethrins, from experience there are several strains of the MJ plant that react adversly to Pyrethrins..... I have had no such adverse reactions when using neem oil, nor has the hundreds that I have recommended it to where do you get your info from? do a google search on neem oil, this isnt only my opinion its not only safe ,it beaks down biologically by exposure to sunlight, wind and humidity with absolutely no adverse effects to the environment. & neem products can be taken internally, its the number 1 birth controll method in india, it claimed by eastern medicine for centuries to cure hundreds of illness, afflictions , prevents sexually transmitted diseases, bacteria & pests & can be used up to the day of harvest on fruits, & vegtables.......... the manufacturers of the Pyrethrin products only say there has been no substantial testing to support any problems with humans and Pyrethrins....but there is a whole lot of people that say your fuckin nuts cause they are real sick from Pyrethrins http://www.getipm.com/articles/letters/sitemap-ltrs.htm but you just keep using it smart guy ![]() |

Hey Dekker, you need to be aware, as I am, that if the great gonzo gorilla is giving his opinion then yours and everyone elses' is worthless. He's received feedback from "hundreds" of people who always tell him how right he is about everything, and has a sycophant here to prove it. Should anyone have the temerity to suggest that there may be other solutions to a problem other than the great goo girlies one then they must expect to be sneered at and put in their place. I suggested a method of control suitable for 1-3 plants but Oh No, the GG knows it all. The object is to prevent an infestation, a bit of damage to fan leaves is not a worry, but GG knows that what I suggest is " Impossible to keep up IF you could find them all" Whereas doubtless his method kills 100% every time cos every mite gets covered everytime he uses it. I've never sprayed any shit on my plants, have always controlled mites, whitefly, thrips, and aphids manually, yes it does require time but it ain't "lunacy" as the great one says.

comeon Alice dont get your feelings hurt..... jonboy is in trouble and needs help here....I seriously doubt jonboy has the time the eyes or inclination to go searching endlessly for damned near microscopic insects, & im certain he wants to smoke his crop not feed the bugs Quote:
![]() there are posts here this week with members that cant get rid of mites using all types of harsh chemicals, they just keep coming back because it damned near IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND THEM ALL, not to mention the almost invisible eggs & the dormant adults sleeping in the soil. Let me ask you this....are you willing to risk YOUR health now that I have pointed out the potential health issues including the possibility of death from the use of Pyrethrin based products.....they said asbestos was safe too remember...I do only the ignorant are afraid or intimidated by knowledge | |
