Flushing is NOT working!

Ok, I'll give a quick rundown.

Soil grow. MG Organic.

Originally was using "Needle Meter" for Ph - totally screwed me.

A few weeks ago, I added some dry ferts to the soil along with some sulfur and epsom salt.

This bottomed out my PH, to the low 5's. I've since done 3 flushes over the past 2 weeks...each flush with 12-15 gallons of water...this last one was done with 18...

I'm still at 5.9 on my new Hanna PH meter. Water going in is reading 6.9...water coming out...5.9.

My question is...is it possible that the little pieces of wood and pinebark have absorbed the sulfur and is keeping the PH down?

What else can I do? I don't want to drown my girl...she is looking better, but getting white tips (Magnesium from what I've read)

I added about 1 quart of 5-13-4 ferts at end of flush so she would at least have some food.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG???

arbitrary pouring chemicals in your plant

MG soil has ferts already ,
your adding suplemental ferts and the worst kind(timed/slow release) & then you added "about 1 quart of 5-13-4 ferts at end of flush so she would at least have some food."

I seriously doubt you needed epsom salts using MG organic soil..... excesss magnesium locks out potassium

sulphur? why.... & there was 13% sulphur in the epsom salts ...MGSO4

I say your soil is fucked! now

is the plant too big to transplant?, if not do so, run water over the root ball to remove the bad soil....use soil without ferts pre-added if possible or you cant controll the feeding of your plant for a month or two

Yeah!

yeah, GG, I did all that previous fertilizing weeks ago though....

So, dry type ferts are bad to use then???

Also, I didn't think the MG organic had any type of time released ferts...or are the dry ferts what you are referring to. My plant is about 4 weeks into flowering and is about 2.5 feet tall...

I did what you suggested and put 20-30 holes in the soil to try and flush, but still the same thing.

Guess being a NooB has it's disadvantages.

Would you advise be liquid ferts always then?

So Basically...

No matter how much flushing I do, it'll never come back then or what?

Should I harvest now or just wait it out?

yes I was refering to pelletts you added

dont give up yet! when your flushing, it doesnt matter if you put the garden hose in the pot & flush for an hour or more, dont be bashful, leech that sulphur & acidic ferts out, if the acidic PH returns again .........

lets try watering with lime/dolomite lime dissolved in water......measure the PH of the lime water......with a wet rootball water with the limewater, slowly so that it gets absorbed in the rootball and not run down the sides, catch the runoff of the lime water and PH test it..

water as usual for a few days checking the PH runoff when you water

Thanks

I'm going to give my girl a day or two to recover from me prodding into the soil with my old clothes hanger and for the soil to dry out a little bit and then I'll try the lime water.

What PH should I try and push with the lime?

add 2 -3 tabelspoons what ever you can dissolve

ferts will always bring it down later, lets just neutralize that sulphur

She's going to bed

Well, she's about to go to sleep in about 30 minutes, so I'll flush her again in the morning and see what gives and then I'll add some lime...actually...going out of town tomorrow to see my pops...Monday then.

I also got a sweet aquarium CO2 generator for $35 bucks, so maybe it'll help her recover and maybe regain some yield.

I'll post pics and results Monday.

Until then, thanks brother!!

Flushed Again

Did a 15 gallon flush yesterday with the last gallon have 3 tsp of lime diluted in it. Going to give it a few days to work and will do runoff test and flush again towards the end of the week.

Just to show you what too much sulphur looks like...check out the pictures on my grow..it's crazy.

If I were you I would take your plant out of this screwed up soil cuz u added too much stuff. Once you remove the plant flush the soil it's roots are in then set it in new soil, i did thsi once because I added too much fert and the soil wasnt letting oxygen get to the roots either and my plant was fine in a few days.

Back in Town

420, thanks for the advice. I'm debating on doing that...However, I'm only 4 weeks from harvest...do you think it's too late to clean the soil?

My last flush showed at the optimum range, but I have a feelign I've still got lock out...My leaves are still yellowing after adding schults 10-15-10

I'm thinking maybe I should clean the soil completely and start fresh, but I don't want to hurt my girl...what do you think everyone??? Should I wash soil and try to fix my problem that way? Going to do another runoff tonight...if it's still low, I'm thinking of doing this.........Ganja???what do you think?

I think you may affect the yield and the time finishing even more drastically than you already have, thats why we didnt do this

your @ 5.5 weeks no? 1-2 weeks from finishing out, there is enough left in the plant to complete her cycle

if your now in optimum PH range kick back give that plant a rest so what if it eats up old fan leaves at least its finishing & thats kinda normal at this point in the cycle.

dont give it anything else is my opinion
