Very weak stems, what is wrong?

They have been under light for about 4 days. When they sprouted, they had to search for light for a few days since I was not here to get to them so when I got to them most were fairly long white stems with a bit of leaf trying to come out. All organic soil Pure distilled water I put the metal wires in there just yesterday to help keep them up, otherwise they just lay flat on the dirt. I am guessing this is happening since I left them for a few days after they sprouted with no light. I thought the stems would quickly stiffen up, but their still as weak as they originally were. What should I do?

the streching is caused from the plants reaching to get more lite, and then they cant support thier own weight

the lites need to be 1-2" away using small flouros

if you have seeds start some again to replaced those real bads ones

They haven't stretched much, they are almost the same length that they were when I started them on the light. The lights are about 2" away, look at the last picture.

you started LST too early. you should wait till about 5 or 6 leaves then do it. the stem should be about a centimeter away from the soil anyway. wait till it grew up about an inch and a half then do another paperclip. LST is AWESOME once you know how to do it. i grow inside a comp so i learned how to LST pretty decently. although i use hydroponics

peace

Em the metal (solider actually hah) is holding them UP, not down, otherwise they would be laying on the dirt. The main question is, will they get stronger if I keep going like this? I don't have an issue with them being crooked since I plan on doing LST, I just worry that the stems will never get stronger. I bought some SuperThrive to give it a shot, see if maybe it can help my poor plants.

Put a fan in your grow area, pointing at your plants. This will encourage strong, think stem growth.

Id still place your lites closer than they show in the photos

for the not so bad ones, Id add dry soil to support the stalks, in time that streched stalk will become part of the root system as it will grow roots

like i said they were strechin for lite, you were screwed after the 3 days no lite & they were already sprouted

The only one that has a real chance of surviving is the one in the 4th pict. But truefully, I'd scrap what you have and start over, this time with proper lighting!

I know you don't want even want to hear "scrap em," hey man- never say die! I too would try to use dirt to hold themselves up. Bury them like tomato plants. Just be exta carefull about overwatering, they'll be particullary sensitive to fungus. If they left enough energy to form a leaf, and they don't get the fungus, you'll be fine. It's not looonng of a shot. Good Luck Friend, your sprouts are in my prayers.

Yes but more soil in the pot and burry most of the stem with only the very top sticking out...

Then get a bulb directly over each of them no more than an inch or 2 away.

Well just a quick update, I added a bit of dirt to prop the stems up but some still needed something to hold them. I decided to get SuperThrive a try. Used it and 2 days later WOW, I must say it really works. Now no plants need supports, and 3 of them have a TON of leaves and real thick stems and are going to town! The other 2 are a bit smaller (the worse ones to start with) but their stems are much stronger now and need no support. The next watering I decided I liked it so much I was going to hit it with SuperThrive again. Figured it couldn't hurt since it's not a fert. Well I was wrong. Now 2 of my best plants have a bit of yellow in the leaves, 1 small leaf on the bottom is fairly bad. The other plants appear to be fine. Today's watering I used only water to try to flush some of the SuperThrive out. I'll post pics later, plants should be fine though right? Anything else I can do to care for em? Edit - Why in the world can I not make line breaks? I hit enter to space out parts of my posts but it's all pushed together after I hit post?

when you posted this I knew we would see you back in here again

you burnt them

you flushed already so just leave them alone for 2 weeks then feed with a 1/4 strength general purpose ferts eg: 10 10 10

also the pot is in focus but the plant isnt....look at the pics before you upload them, you only need to back up 4 " to get great pics OK
