Need Clone Advise...

Hello, This is my first post here... Anyways, Ive got a pretty healthy female im growing outdoors, shes about 1.5 weeks into prebudding. I took a clipping off her for cloning purposes. I only took one tho as this isnt a very big plant and i want to harvest as much as possible. I am doing everything on the cheap, so I dont have any vermiculite or peat pellets or anything like that to put my cutting into. At the moment i have it in a shotglass filled with a somewhat diluted superthrive solution. Its been out for over 24 hours and still looks perky. My question is, should I leave it in the water untill i see some roots and then plant it in some soil? Or should i put it in some soil now to root it? My only option at the moment is soil, but its good soil and i have prepared a cup of some pretty fine stuff to plant it in. Im worried about killing my only clone, anyone have any advice?

Pic of the clone:

I clone in soil, in a humidity dome of sorts (tupperware storage container upside down)and a heating pad to keep the soil warm

dip the cutting in rooting hormone and put in soil ....use a plastic bag for a humidity dome if you havent anything else

Ok, here is what ive done. I took a little medicine cup i found around the house, put a small hole in the bottom for draining, filled it with good moist soil, got a tupperware container, and and a medicine dropper for watering. Look good? do i need anything else? (lighting/heat too of corse)...

Cannabis can root without the horemone but don't expect a very good survival rate. It's hard to clone 95% when you're even using the rooting horemone and since I'm sure that this is probably your first time cloning, that thing is probably going to die. Have you already cut it?

Just change your water every day and add the super thrive, as it needs disolved O2, and it should be fine. Once you see the roots start and by that I mean atleast an inch long put it in your soil,

Do you have any fertilizers or other growing supplies whatsoever? I've read that it's often good to put the cutting into a very very diluted, high phosphorus fertlizer solution with water. Dilute it maybe around 1/8th of the directions on the box. Did you say a week?

Since it's in water now, without the hormone to speed up growth, here's the problem. I don't really know why you can't just go down to wal-mart and pick up a bottle of powder so I'll tell you what you can expect to face by not using it.

The roots will grow very slowly even if the cutting is healthy. Change the water because with an open stem, it's like having an open cut on your body. Easy entrance for infection. You should already have the thing in a humidity controlled environment. It's root system just won't be able to keep up with its rate of transpiration when they start growing. Once you've put a hood on it, it will droop within 15 minutes of taking it off. You need to remove the hood at least once or twice a day to mist the clone and give it a nice blast of fresh air.

Once the cutting has obviously taken root, you'll notice because it will look like a whole new plant. A few days later, maybe a week, it'll regain a normal rate of growth and if it's healthy, should astonish you.

im a tad short on extra cash and was trying to do this for $0 using items at hand. I have some good soil, superthrive, an almost empty bottle of soil activator, and a full bottle of Alaska fish fertilizer...

Oh, the big problem i meant to mention and forgot in my last post was that with the slowed rate of root growth, it's need of oxygen might catch up to everything and when a root system is under water, it just can't get it so if you have some pearite you might want to plant it in that first. It holds very small amounts of water but provides a medium that you can drain to allow air to reach the roots. I have no idea how long you want to leave it drained because I don't know how much time roots need to be exposed to air. Naturally half the root system would be somewhat dry while the bottom was still wet in a larger pot or in the ground, giving the plant both sufficient air and water at given times.

HOWEVER, do not expose the naked stem of the clone to the air. Air bubbles that get into the stem get stuck there and will not allow water to pass up, killing it.

Fish emulsion fertilizer is a big no-no.
