Spider Mites

see new fact sheet on Spider Mites
Description:

Several species. Adults and young: Tiny (barely visible to naked eye), red or greenish red. Found on underside of leaves. Not classified as insects.
Common host plant(s):

Muskmelon, cantaloupe, beans, blackberry, cucumber, melons and tomato.
Damage:

Yellow specks and fine webs on leaves. Plants and fruits are stunted. Damage on strawberry usually occurs in hot, dry seasons, and may be severe.
Distribution:

Throughout United States.
Lifecycle:

The majority of spider mite species overwinter as eggs on plant hosts. Immature mites hatch in spring and develop through several instars. High populations of spider mites are favored by hot, dry weather. Multiple generations occur annually.
Cultural Control

A spray of either cold water or a mix of wheat flour, buttermilk, and water onto the leaves will help to control the mites.
Biological/Cultural Control:

Lacewings, lady beetles, and predatory mites all prey upon spider mites.
Chemical Control:

For Beans (snaps & limas),Cucurbits (cantaloupes, cucumber, squash, pumpkins, and watermelons), Strawberry, and Tomatoes: Treat when damage appears. Wait 2 days after the last application before harvesting the above crops except beans; you must wait 7 days after the last application before harvesting beans.

Never used it but anything good for edibles would be good for weed. Neem oil works real well too.

I read some where one chopped onion and one chopped garlic in your spray bottle let it mix with the water and in a day you'll have a nasty natural pesticide, it smells funky but I tried it and it works, read it on gc of course

This Gets Rid Of Spidermite Completely

My friend uses a Hydroponics shop in Andover in Hampshire called Andover Hydroponics, the owner of the shop gave hime advice which completey got rid of all the problem. Apperently the owners name is bill and he found a simple way to cure the problem. Andover Hydroponics is on the net as well search google for it u need further advice, but he told my m8 to uses Johnsons Fly and Wasp killer in the BLUE can in the supermarkets. He said only use that one cos others might hurt the Plants. Johnsons Fly and Wasp killer does NOT harm ur plants.
If not sure get in touch with Andover Hydroponics and ask then, they seemed to know their shit about Plants and I think they invented Powerponics which is likely to be the worlds fastest growing meathod.
But this fly spray trick does work and it wipes the mites clean out. Best do it once then 48 hours after to get any unhatched eggs etc. Can be sprayed onto leaves and will not kill them. The effect on spidermite is 100% erradication.

i hope it's not sc johnson raid your talking about, since i read that from them that their product is not intended for use on edible plants, meaning there's probably a chance of leftover chemical residue on the buds, ick.

Indica-Sativa VS Spidermites

I had a spider mite invasion in my starting area, and I didn't know what was going on with my Indicas, as they were loosing they vitallity. But there was no obvious signs of infestation, no webs, no spots. Only when they moved to my sativas did they web. After which I looked back to the Idicas with glass to find those little bastards, which were well established with eggs galore. This first showed up as signs of +N overkill in my Idicas. Neem/Canola oil cured all.
