Banana pods... HELP!

After a daily inspection of my plants, I noticed one is developing banana pods. What should I do?

The history of the plants is here: http://forum.grasscity.com/grow-jour...ht=master+kush.

I suspect the cause of the hermie is the stress caused by my brownthumb roommates not really checking the pH for a couple weeks. The plant with the pods is definitely the one that looked the worse after this lapse of stress.

This really sucks because a few of the plants in my last crop hermie'd, and I thought I had really done a much better job this time around. How do you not upset this delicate plant? This hermie is one of the farthest along in bud growth of the crop, as you can see from the nice pic of one of the three main heads, all of which looked like they were going to be nice big juicy colas. The genetics is some super skunky purples bagseed.

Can i pick all the banana pods out or should I pull the plant?

Thanks for your help!

(I can't upload pics now, will try again later)

Well u said ur last batch went hermi, and these were clones off of ur last crop. My guess is they have hermie in their genetics if all of them are doing it.

Where are the male pollen sacs appearing? Are they just on a few buds or all over the place?

If they are just on a few buds, pick them off. If all the plants have them all over, you're bound to miss some and they will be pollinated no matter what. If all ur plants are hermied I'd say just leave them and take some seedy bud. Trying to cut off that many male pollen sacs is tedious and ur bound to spill some and miss some sacs in the process.

Bottom line (IMO of course)

if there's only a couple, cut them off.

If they are on all ur plants and quite plentiful, let nature take its course and smoke some seedy bud come harvest time.

Good luck with the rest of ur grow.

Hey guys, thanks for your replies.

Only a few pods have developed on the affected plant, so it wouldn't be too much trouble to try and pick them all off. But will the plant keep trying to grow them after I remove the ones already there? All the other plants are looking fine as of now (no signs of being hermies).

I am not convinced that the hermi is because of the genetics, I still think it is stress induced (these were not femenized seeds). The affected plant was a clone from one the plants that didn't hermi much (only noticed a few seeds after harvest) from my last crop. Is it possible to carry on hermie traits through a clone? My last crop that had a few hermies in it developed the pods very very late into maturation (about 9-10 weeks into flowering). This time, this one plant has hermied much earlier. Bad sign? Should I expect the other plants to follow suite? I sure hope not...

Thanks again for everyones help

(Also, I would upload the pics, but everytime I try, it gives me a "database error" message? Any thoughts? Happening to anyone else?)

I would say that the pods will prbably continue to grow on your buds throughout your grow.

Also, a seed does not have to be feminized to be a hermie, nor does is have to be stressed. I'm pretty sure if it comes from a hermie mother, it has an increased chance of being hermie too.

Ok lets see...

If there are only a few pods, just be VERY careful and pick those bad boys off. You just have to be careful not to bust the sacs and spread the pollen everywhere.

I'm not sure about them continuing to grow after you pick them. Honestly I have no idea.

When you say your parent plant didn't hermi much (as in you only found seeds but never actually saw the pods??) Hermaphrodites can come from genetics, can be stress induced, and can be a combo ofd both. But my guess would be, if your last generation did it, and so did this one and it is from the same plant. There's a good chance it's in the genetics.

As for the pics. Try hosting them on photobucket or something, then hit the little mountain with the sun button on the top of the reply. Copy the link's location and put it there.

Good luck.
