I have some clones that i got from a friend, im not sure what strain. I have been growing them for about a week. when i got them they were all ready to die. I am pretty sure they are doing better now but the leave tips are turning yellow and the bottom leaves are slowely turning yellowish. I have no clue what im doing wrong so if you know plz tell me.

did they have roots before you put them in soil? How did you clone them? did you fertilize them? post more info to get better answers.

I am pretty sure they did have some roots when I got them because theyve been living for a week or soo in my growbox. I think the guy that cloned them did feed them nutrients every week, but im not to sure about that. They were cloned by takng the clippings from another plant then dipped in cloning solution and then stuck in soil.

DutchinCanada,

Clones should be started in Jiffy Mix soil less clone starting mix, Perlite, vermiculite Perlite mix, or rock wool. Regular soil is not the best thing to start them in but, I won't say it is impossible, just not great.

They should be in a humidity dome of some kind. This would keep the moisture on the leaves because that's where a clone drinks from; it has not roots. Your friend might have fert burned them a bit. Clones need very little if any nutes while rooting.

What are your temps? Clones root fastest at about 80 degrees.

The node length on all your plants is way too long indicating not enough light, light too far away, or both. What type of lights you using
?

Yeah, Try moving your light down. Those noeds are way too spread out. This should help with more vigirous growth as well. The closer the light without burning them or drying them out, the better.

I would certainly not call myself an expert at cloning, but I have done it successfully several times (20-30). Those clones look awfuly big to me. Normally when I clone, my clones are only 2-3" tall. It seems to work for me. (I have about a 75% success rate)

As for stretching, yes your nodes are stretched out, but I think that your buddy did that before he gave them to you. A clone will not really grow very much until the roots have taken. If you have only had the clones for a week or so, you probably don't have much of a root system, therefore you don't really have to worry about stretch too much. Once the roots take though, keep an eye on node spacing.

Sombody suggested rock wool for cloning. This to me is by far the easiest way to go about it. The rock wool keeps everything nice and moist while the roots are trying to take. Then, once the roots are stable you just pop the block into your growing medium and off you go.

Best of luck with your babies.

Actually, yes. I do agree the stretching of the nodes was probably not your fault. Good call mad4reef.
