I think they look like non-winged aphids. Do they fly or have wings? I only say this because their body shape looks a lot like the non-winged aphids I've seen in books...course, I can't see whether they are winged or not. They also semi-resemble fungus-gnats...but from the pictures it's hard to tell. Their bodies look far too wide and angled to fungus gnats, though. If they are aphids...you need to take immediate action...aphids are notorious for destroying entire crops... Not to get you paranoid...but those are something I've never PERSONALLY seen. A "safer-soap" is preferred when spraying on edible crops. You can more than likely find it at a local Ace Hardware, as well as a local garden store. Either way, buy the safer-soap or a neem oil. Regardless of what they are...you don't want em. |

| Sorry...didn't quite read your post before I replied
Sorry man...like a typical high-guy...I just saw the picture and started to type a reply. Now that I've read that these critters fly around...I'm guessing winged aphids, bro. The only other possibility, in my mind, is fungus gnats..but the shape of the insects don't resemble what I once had. The safer-soap I mentioned you can find at pretty much any greenhouse/garden store or Ace Hardware. The word "Safer" will be easily visible. Make sure to read the bottle to be sure that your particular choice deals with aphids...if the problem is fungus gnats...they will also be killed by this spray. I'm not as familiar with aphids as fungus gnats...just follow the directions on the bottle and you should be good. Go easy at first and test a few small sections of the soil. |

when i had abunch of lil fuckers "mine were fruit flies kinda" i just took me plants out of my room, left the lights on "cause they were attracted to it" after i took out my plants, i sprayed the shit out of my closet with raid... after that i wait 1 hour "like it says on the bottle" then i put me plants back in, and bam, no more bugs.... if it gets really serious "the bugs are eatting the plant", i just transplant the plant, with as little soil from the "bug infested stuff" and put the plant in new stuff, and throw the old buggy shit out.... other than that... just toss the whole mother fucker and start over bug-free! good luck to you're bug swarm... hope you resolve you're problem...
